Description
A Silkmoth that I raised from a worm ^^A silkmoth emerges from a silk cocoon that it spun itself made out of almost a mile of a silk strand. It will live for only 5 days only for mating purposes. It doesn't need to eat and it cannot fly due to the species evolution in captivity.
I believe it's wings are a bit bent from being inside the cocoon. It just came out this morning.

Wow, never knew the domesticated ones were flightless. Probably stands to reason though, if domestic birds don't fly, why should the insects?
Delicate is right. This little creature looks like a tiny figurine. Very lovely little moth, great photo of it.

Yeah, 5 days =\ Just enough time to die while waiting for a mate to come out of their cocoon. I can't seem to get 2 at the same time.

Thanx! It could have been a cooler shot, but when I took him outside for better lighting, he scrunched up his face from the sun and his antenna (eyebrows as I call them) were no longer out like they usually are. My next shots will try and show that.

I know So far I haven't had 2 moths at the same time. It seems 1 dies as another is emerging...so sad.
