I always love watching minecraft videos and seeing that, as the world randomly generates, it generates random floating patches of earth high in the sky.

I also found floating SAND islands, so gravity obviously doesn't apply there either |3

Sand is only affected by gravity when you do something to disturb it, from what I've seen. Not sure about gravel though. Most likely the same principle.

Mhm, when I needed a bunch of sand for glass, I set up a bunch of torches underneath them, and then poked one until they all fell easy harvestin~
