Description
Well, finally decided to post these guys in. Meet the second of the Koopa Troop elite and one of the true Paper Mario classics: the Koopatrols. The Koopatrols in Paper Mario Darkness in Time specialize in high Defense and raw power. Definitely be careful of the Mighty and Dark Koopatrols: flipping them over will cause them to use a powerful Power Shell (just like Shady Troopas).
Here are their tattles:
Koopatrol:
“That’s a Koopatrol, an armored Koopa that works for the Koopa Troop. They are considered one of the elites of the Koopa Troop. Max HP is 8, Attack is 6, and Defense is 3. They can charge into you, perform a Power Shell against multiple opponents, or call for reinforcements. If you can somehow flip them over, then I recommend you do it.”
Mighty Koopatrol:
"That's a Mighty Koopatrol, on of the elites of the elites in the Koopa Troop. Scans show that it's actually a Shady Troopa in golden armor, which is not good. Max HP is 15, Attack is 12, and Defense is 4. Mighty Koopatrols have the same attacks as a regular Koopatrol, which is charging into you, using a Power Shell against you, and calling for reinforcements. However, it seems that the Koopa Troop is actually keeping track of your battle abilities, because if you flip them over, they'll perform a more powerful Power Shell that ignores Defense. These guys are no joke!"
Dark Koopatrol:
"That's a Dark Koopatrol, a Koopatrol that was banished to the Pit of 100 Trials. Scans show that these things used to work for the Koopa Troop of the past. The Koopa Troop seems to expand even to the distant past... Max HP is 30, Attack is 16, and Defense is 4. They can charge into you and perform a Power Shell against you. They can also call in more Dark Koopatrols to assist them. When they're flipped over, they can perform a more powerful Power Shell that ignores Defense. They are definitely the strongest of the Koopatrols."
(tattles may change randomly)

Well, can't have a Paper Mario game without the elite versions of Koopas, now can we? Especially since Bowser is going all out this time...
The Mighty Koopatrol is a neat idea (we're wondering how it can spin its shell when it's flipped, though), and the golden color scheme reminds us of the KP Koopas from Glitzville. Explicitly making it a Shady Koopa in armor is another nice touch that explains the added ability...of course, that doesn't explain the Dark Koopatrol, but maybe Koopas were stronger back then...

On wondering how it could spin its shell when flipped over, even though I could say Mario Logic, I'm going to say this instead: These Mighty Koopatrols had a LOT of training. In fact, all of Bowser's Elite Elites (Mighty Koopatrols, Knight Bros, and the new Black Magikoopas) recieved major training in hopes of finally beating Mario.
The Koopas must have been stronger back then. Back then, the various kingdoms were at war with each other (at least, that's what I thought), and they use any means nesseary to become the ultimate kingdom (even using Nova Bob-ombs). Those were some dark days, but when the war was finally over, many prisoners who wanted the war to continue were banished to the Toad Town Pit of 100 Trials.

Wait, BLACK Magikoopas? We're not even sure we want to know what they're capable of (especially since if we're talking Paper Mario, the Blue Magikoopas already combine the powers of all other variants). Also, we are now expecting you to have Bowser actually referring to his new minions as his "Elite Elites" or something equally silly; it's a Paper Mario game, and thus Bowser is contractually obligated to be at least a little humorous.
Oddly, that backstory not only makes sense for why there's so many powerful enemies in the Pit of 100 Trials (ignoring the fact that they'd probably be dead by now if they've been cooped up in there for so long, anyways), but it's also reminding us of what we've scraped together for our fangame concept. Except ours involves an alien abduction...weird how different people come up with similar ideas, huh?

Well, since I already got regular Magikoopas fought in Chapter 4, there's bound to be something else to fill in that role. By the way, the various Magikoopas will have some new magic, and the Black Magikoopas will be able to use all of those new magic. Of course, you'll going to have to wait until I reveal the Magikoopas.
Well I can't really think of anything else off the top of my head...
I see. That alien abduction being about the Shroobs, right?

More or less. It's a long, bloody, and complex story...suffice to say, this might be the biggest crisis Mario will face in his lifetime - and possibly the last.

Well, depending on which ending you get. We'd say about...90% end badly to some extent.

...Not really. Besides, it's not like they ALL end with total downers. Most are in the "bittersweet" category to varying extents; think of it as a gradient between happy and sad, with endings at every point of the bar.

So a Shady Koopa wearing Koopatrol armor? Interesting

That explains their ability to use a Power Shell flipped over (and I actually used a Shady Troopa's skin color for the skin of the Mighty Koopatrol). All in all, they're deadly.

Oh, and let me tell you my secret regarding this game:
I'm actually trying to make Bowser's Koopa Troop as deadly as even the Infinity Empire.
