Description Next up on the enemies in Darkness in Time are the Ruff Puffs. Ruff Puffs specialize in a tackle attack and a charge that makes them immune to physical contact and allows them to launch a powerful attack. Here are their tattles:

Ruff Puff:
“That’s a Ruff Puff, a strange cloud-like creature. You can normally find them in the clouds. Max HP is 8, Attack is 5, and Defense is 0. Ruff Puffs got a basic tackle, but when they charge up, it means it’s about to launch a powerful Lightning Strike. While it’s charging, it’s electrified; meaning direct contact will result in you getting hurt."

Ice Puff:
"That's an Ice Puff, a Ruff Puff that absorbs a lot of cold air to survive. That's why they're only native in cold areas. Max HP is 12, Attack is 7, and Defense is 0. Ice Puffs, like regular Ruff Puffs, got a tackle attack and a charge. While they're charging, direct contact will result in you getting hurt and frozen. After they charge up, they'll unlease an Ice Storm that will damage and freeze both of us."

Flare Puff:
"That's a Flare Puff, a Ruff Puff that thrives in volcanic areas. Max HP is 15, Attack is 8, and Defense is 0. Besides their tackle attack, Flare Puffs can charge up to unlease a Flame Breath to damage and burn both of us. As always, avoid direct contact while it's charging or you'll get hurt and burned."

Temporal Puff:
"That's a Temporal Puff, a special Ruff Puff that holds a lot of temporal energy inside themselves. They roam the Temporal Tower. Max HP is 18, Attack is 10, and Defense is 0. Temporal Puffs can tackle you and charge up. Their charge allows them to unlease their stored temporal energy to damage both of us and freeze us in time. While charging, avoid direct contact or you'll get hurt and be forzen in time."

Poison Puff:
"That's a Poison Puff, a Ruff Puff that has absorbed too much pollutants. They are found mostly in the Pit of 100 Trials. Max HP is 25, Attack is 14, and Defense is 0. Poison Puffs can tackle you, but their main ability is charging up. While charging up, you'll take damage and be poisoned when you attempt to attack it with direct contact. After they're done charging, they'll exhale a poisonous gas that can damage and poison both of us."

Ah, glad to see these guys haven't really changed. The new Temporal Puff is interesting, what with the markings and all, but it's nice to see some variation on the basic design. Still find it funny that the Poison Puff is the strongest; you'd think being able to STOP time beats poison. Oh well, guess the Pit of 100 Trials likes the classic ailments.

Well, I really don't have an area that the Poison Puff can be at besides the Pit of 100 Trials...

Eh, we're not criticizing it. We just found that kind of funny. Mario won't be laughing when he gets a taste of the Poison Puff's power...

Yea, but maybe I should make it so the Poison Puff can always poison you, even if you guard. It Is a pit-only enemy.

Hmm...guaranteed poison even with a block might be overkill. Maybe give it a percent chance of working through a guard, and have it unaffected by Feelin' Fine badges or other status-resistant stuff?

Overkill, maybe, but when was the last time the Pit of 100 Trials was EVER a non-jerk?

Feeling Fine badges might work, but (spoilers) it's actually guarded by yet another optional boss.

True. We have our own plans for a Po100T analogue, and it's a serious doozy. Think Super Paper Mario, but with a boss on every tenth level and more enemies than the rest of the game...combined.

Yikes, another optional boss-guarded badge? We don't remember Feeling Fine to be that popular...unless you've made them into the Mario version of the Ribbon item from Final Fantasy.

1. Interesting...

2. Well, on the account of almost all of my enemies having a status attack (and the time freezing effect being the main reason why these temporal enemies are tough), I'm doing just that. To me, the Feeling Fine badge would probably be a 'god-send' (did I spelled it right?) in this game.

Yep. Once we figure out what our enemy roster is, we'll post details on this site.

Ah. We don't remember the Feeling Fine badges very well, but we think their protection was limited to a few statuses. Giving them the ability to prevent all status ailments is definitely worth making them into optional boss treasures...but will there be a weaker, more easily-accessible version? (E.g. one that prevents only some status ailments, or one that only decreases their chances of working instead of outright preventing them?)

Making the Feeling Fine badge prevent all negative statuses will make it optional boss worthy. Unfortunately, there's no weaker version. And I'm not pressing into this matter until I release the optional boss that guards it.

Alright then. We'll wait for that pic before we carry on further.

...It's some kind of super-Wiggler, isn't it?

I'm glad you like it. I try to make the Temporal Puff look more speal and not look like a Sad Puff, which is why I added Dialga's markings on it.

Your Ruff Puffs, huh? Got it.

As for more enemies, I'll be making some new ones.

One is the next part of the Infinity Army
The other will be a VERY familiar enemy
