Well, this is the latest in a number of sketches I have posted, this time concerning animation. I decided that, before I continue my comics, I want to continue to learn a few more things about drawing, one of which is the related art of animations!

INFO:

Animated Cycle:
I made a total of 10 frames, each showing one important posture in his "waddle" walk. I never quite realized how weird the physical motions were behind the waddle, until now. XD Anyway, the data to the right of this section's a bit incorrect, as the frame rate I ended up choosing was 15, and that using these 10 frames for exactly the length of one key frame each, that each waddle would in turn last for 2/3 of a second, with a "flipper hits ground" sound effect on frames 3 and 8.

Edit: Here's the cycle in it's animation: [link]

Scale:
A general scale to figure out the dimensions of this character. As he appears (as of today), Leo Winters is about 1' 3'', that's 16 inches, recorded as the height of the Blue Penguin, the smallest species of Penguin. He stands about a little shorter then a teddy bear, and to the left of the page, is only a fraction of the average adult person. As far as width goes... hehehe, he's a little chubby, so I'd say he's just about the width of a bowling ball, though he instead feels more like a small pillow (due to his feathers, of course! ).

Expressions:
Finally, here's 6 expressions. Tada! From left to right:

1: He's happy, with flippers in the air. Probably saying: "Jubilations!" or something.
2: This could be a number of things. Either he's afraid, nervous, spotted one of those notorious anvils from cartoon land raining from the heavens, or something else!
3: Either a face palm (to his head), or trying to figure something out and rubbing his head in the process.
4: Oh, yeah, the horrified one. I drew this after showing Leo one of the newer, dumbified cartoons. He stayed like that for DAYS.
5: Either he's trying to say something in an intelligent way or he's whispering something to someone.
6: He's either embarrassed, shy, bashful, or trying to taunt someone. XD

That's a solid idea! I gotta do that too when I make animation. >w<;;

I like Leo's expression you do here. Good job!

Hehe, thanks! It did take a bit of work, but it feels very rewarding to have done!

Adorableness <3

Even just looking at those frames and imagining the walk cycle, it looks perfect.

Wow, this must've taken some time, you only have to see the data for the animation frames and the character height to see that. How you were able to replicate each frame of Leo's walking animation by hand I don't know, but you've done a grand job there, the height and his waddle, you nailed them both.
Love the expressions in the bottom right (not to mention the captions for them too), you've got him running almost the whole gamut of emotions there. Honest, great work with this, can't fault it.

You're welcome. Model sheets are kind of the building blocks, really.
