Most of the shows in the 80s were just cheap toy commercials. The only good shows were Ducktales and Thundercats and that's about it.
The late 90s/early 2000s, on the other hand, had WAY more great shows than bad ones. You're literally like, the first person I've met who thinks shows from around that time was bad.
Also, that quote really describes the more recent shows from 2008-present the best. Most of them are pathetic and pointless.

I haven't watched the newer series yet. But I agree that most of the newer shows are just plain terrible.

Dude, you're so far the only one I've seen who hates those shows. Take off your nostalgia glasses for hells sake! Shows like Samurai Jack and Megas XLR are ten times more badass than any toy commercial, er I mean... show from the 80s. I'll agree with you that society is going downhill in more recent times, but do you really have to put the blame for that on innocent kids cartoons?
I'm curious, what shows DO you like? Don't tell me, you like My little Pony and Friends, one of the many 'badass' shows from the 80s.

Airwolf, The Equalizer, Street Hawk, the 1983 film Conquest that was a Real action movie, Inhumanoids forget the toys look at the cartoon real bad ass not that kid friendly bullshit thats on now, Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light forget the toys, Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future, The World of David the Gnome, Adventures of the Little Koala, Noozles, the 1986 flim Cobra better than top gun. I can go on forever.
And yes Thundercats, Sliverhawks, and Tigersharks.
Not like the drug trips they make now.

Wanna know all the awesome shows fom the late 90s/early 2000s?
Ed Edd n Eddy, Spongebob Squarepants (back when it was still good), Danny Phantom,
Time Squad, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Sheep in the Big City, Megas XLR.
Johnny Bravo, Dave the Barbarian, Kim Possible, Fairly Odd Parents (another good show that later went downhill), Hey Arnold,
Code Lyoko, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Teen Titans, Clone High, The Big Guy and Rusty and of course, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, just to name a few.
The problem with the shows in the 80s is that, even though they admittadely have good storylines, the animation is extremely cheap and there is no humour. Plus, the characters are all basically just cardboard cut outs.
The shows I mentioned all have a perfect blend of action, humour, story, good animation and relatable characters.
I will agree that the more recent shows like Breadwinners, The Amazing World of Gumball, Sanjay and Craig, Fisn Hooks, Johnny Test, Modern Spongebob, Teen Titans Go and The Marvellous Misadventures of Flapjack are all complete crap. Then again, kids these days don't know jack about quality cartoons.
