Description
Box for fake Lucio Fulci space horror film Red Pebble imagined by me. Cover art is a composite of a John Berkey (great space artist [link] ) and the poster for Roger Corman's Humanoids from the Deep. Stills on the back are from Fulci's own City of the Living Dead and de Cocteau's Creepazoids. "Creature Classics" video logo is mine ^^Related content

I remember having a kind of similar dream when younger. At that age I got many space travel dreams, that I get nomore. Such as having to save Earth in a kind of Armaggedon way, then returning to see it doomed, with it's physical properties changed, or having to scape a sudden world anihilation by greater astral objects, etc... I can't translate the doomy/striking feeling, the terror and the exitement of the dreams, sadly.
I remember just having witnessed an archeological expedition in space, where astronaut technicians studied a carved piece of stone in outerspace

haha how amazing it would be to make alot of incredibly legit looking bootleg '80s horror vhs, and to make an entire fictitious library of them

I stumbled on this by putting "fulci" in the search bar. I think it is great. You've captured the flavor of old 80s scifi/fantasy/horror VHS art very well. Plus, Red Pebble would be a movie I would have watched back in the day.

Thanks very much. I don't think there's enough Fulci related art here on DA so I'm glad I made this and that you found it. Thanks for the comment.

I love those old covers you do.
I think Laserdisc covers would be cool, too!

Oh, and if you haven't seen it, you might rent or borrow Deadspace: Downfall. It's animated, but it sort of resembles the plot described above

Eh, I saw that. I'm not a fan of that animation team, they also did the animated "Spawn".

Torquinox In reply to leothefox [2011-02-21 17:12:43 +0000 UTC]
I thought animated Spawn was good for a rehash of the comics. I'd have liked to see them tell some new stories instead of retelling the same stories *again*. The animation style reminds me of the old Heavy Metal movie, and I think a live-action version of the Deadspace film would be NC-17 or X. So, I think animation was a smart way to get that story to the screen. And I can forgive a lot if the result is entertaining.

I wasn't entertained by either. For me those guys play too serious and think they're too "cool". I'd rather have Ralph Bakshi.

I dunno about all that. Bakshi has his moments

For animation for me Bakshi scores real high.

I've known his work all my life, but not his name. I had posters of his Star Wars paintings, and I'd seen other works as novel or magazine covers. Good stuff!
