WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO new art piece, slightly new style, and finally a new piece with Exe in it !
I'm sorry for the absence of deviations lately, what I did draw I was weary of posting to DA (too many creeps...), and most of the rest was scratched because I had a good ol' artstyle crisis. This drawing is actually the redraw of a piece I had started in my old artstyle, and I like the current iteration way more.

So what's going on there ?
I wanted to draw Exe and Léa together, as I hadn't drawn them in quite a while. Despite these two being the dualists of my fanfic, I haven't completed a lot of art of them... I do have a bunch of unfinished sketches of the couple laying around, though. I had an idea for a new piece with the two : something with bolder outfits and colors. I wanted to call it "acidic based" as a chemistry joke about Léa & Exe's relationship : they are both "corrosive" (they have their own destructive/harmful behaviors), Léa being "based" and Exe being "acidic", however together they are "acidic based", so pretty nice to each other. Well, it may not have been the cleverer metaphor ever with those two still being chaotic at the end of the day, but they're a nice couple still, I suppose.
I made some palettes from cool pictures to be sure the colors would look better together than usual ; I often just pick the default colors of characters instead of many a whole cohesive palette, but I feel like it makes for less interesting pieces, so I didn't do that this time around. Anyway, to go with the corrosive side of things, I picked a palette with a bunch of neons and a few dark colors to keep things balanced.
I initially considered dressing Léa in more pastel colors to contrast with Exe's acidic nature, but using neons was just more fun, and truer to the outfit I had designed for Léa. I took inspiration from The New Style Boutique 3 (aka Girls Mode 4, or Style Savvy : Styling Stars) for their outfit, even more than usual. You can mostly see it through the shape of things, although I did mesh different things together, change the palettes and add quite a few details/changes. I also pulled inspiration from scene kid fashion, and a few pictures from Tokyo Fashion. In general I like to mix different influences in the outfits I draw.
Exe's outfit was mainly inspired by a specific Tokyo Fashion photoshoot. The pictures in question showed a girl with a slanted pleated skirt with plushies stitched at the ends. I knew from the first time I saw this skirt that I needed to draw a character wearing something similar. Eventually I decided to give Exe a similar skirt, because I just seemed like a very Exe thing to me. His t-shirt was inspired by a Stage Dive/Stray Cat top from The New Style Boutique 3 (I was also inspired by this top when I drew Comet). Exe is actually wearing a loose corset/babydoll dress underneath ; I like to think he's unbothered by temperatures, so it's not an issue. Also I couldn't omit the colorful bead bracelets ; I though it would be cool to add some on top of his legwarmers, as a replacement for the belts I saw on similar models. Also : I'm finally satisfied with how I drew Exe ! His quills look like intended, and I love the way I drew the gradient on his arms.
I had a lot of fun with brushes for the background, and even with the characters themselves ! It was really fun adding those cosmic patterns to Exe and Léa's fur, I love drawing cosmic patterns ! Other than that, I've downloaded some new fonts for this piece ; at least fonts are always useful. I found these on Font Space, if you need the name of the fonts I can tell you in a comment !
