Description "The Okanogan say that the animal people were the first people to live on the earth. In form they were both human and animal, taking the shape of the creatures of the land, seas, and air.

The real people and real animals came to exist after a time, and the animal people lived in the villages among them. The animal people were stronger and faster and more cunning than the real people, yet all of the people and animals of the earth lived in balance as brothers and sisters.

But after many generations, some of the animal people became confused. They forgot that they were ever of the people and began to live only as beasts. One day they attacked the real people and ate them as food.

This was the beginning of all monsters."

The layout of this particular page is awesome. You hit the emotions, expressions, and words with a really great simplicity that makes it very striking. Argh, that sounded like nonsense - I'm just trying to say you have a knack for storytelling in this medium.

Thanks! I've been drawing comics for ten years now and I think I'm just starting to really get it. It's hard, so I appreciate your kind words!

You're quite welcome! Comics are such an interesting medium because they're visual, but they still require reading to completely tell the story (that and your writing has to be really tight for it to work). This picture is a great example of it coming together exactly like it should.

Are powers given to them or are the characters born with them?

It depends on the powers, actually! Clifford was born able to change into a wolf because he is descended from a line of animal people. Eliza was born with the ability to "do things" but learned her practical magic from her mother and other witches.

Looks great.

I really like the scratchy loose lines. It gives a dynamic to the work. I hope you plan to continue this style for the rest.

Thank you! I'm trying to decide! I for sure want something looser than what I currently do for Zap!.

I love this page

But what tribe of Native American Mythology is the story based on?

Also are the characters multiethnic?

It is an Okanogan legend (a tribe from present day Washington state area).

There are a number of characters from a variety of races in Wilde Life. I wanted to stay away from the "All Native Americans are magic" trope, since I think that comes across as a bit racist. So there are magical people from all races, and then people who are not magical from all races.
