Description My entry for Gen IV collab over at

Argh for the first time in forever I have no idea what to write in description. Working on Undergraduate Thesis is draining all my brain functioning capabilities so for now have this thing without a contex.

(I just hope background didn't eat Pokemon since they are supposed to be center of attention... )

On tumblr for your reblogging pleasure.

Program code texture source took me here

Frankly, you impressed me, Lepto. I actually didn't recognize your work when I saw the thumbnail. Seeing it closer, I recognize your coloring style, but I think what destabilized me was the background. Usually, in your previous drawings, it's either a plain color with a blurry effect or outside-oriented, so I feel like you went outside of your comfort zone and gave it everything you got. Kudos for that!Β

I read one of your worries is about the fact the background took over the pokemon which I understand and I kinda agree it does. I initially thought it has to do with the rule of thirds but as I write this comment, I am not even sure... Mostly because Porygon kinda impose to incorporate oddity. I just wonder, though, what it would have been like if you slide the framing a bit more to the right... Because, Β when I open my eyes, they're tempted to go the the upper left corner. I first look through the city, then see the far-right Porygon. Is it a bad thing? Not necessarily. I actually like the fact I want to see more, but can't ^^ You experimented with the composition and like I previously wrote, it matches the unconventionnal way of Porygon-Z (not to mention the system infiltration context you put it here is pretty neat! so it's a bit like the thief or villain you can never grasp).

No, if it's hard to focus on the Pokemon itself, it think it has more to do with constrast. You are great with blending colors and light effects (just look at how well you handle the hologram projector area and how it reflects around!). I think you can now push more with the color saturation, light and shadows as well as allowing some parts to be blur/bleach/darkened to enhance the focus of the main subject.

Oh gosh you're right. I have always drawn outdoors background so this is my first official indoor setting! wohoo. Achievement unlocked!Β
And thank you. It's nice to see so many good reactions on this experiment. I'm actually trying to practice as much as I can with drawing backgrounds, especially to study shading and light because I have idea I'm somewhat failing in that part. :S

Yeah I figured half way when coloring that it might have looked better if I showed this foreground Porygon's eye but I was in kind of a rush to finish this because I had other work to do so I left it that way. To me personally, scene from the street doesn't fit to the picture at all because colors and atmosphere is so different from inside's shading but idk... I know I'm bad in placing characters into scene atmosphere and I had a reference for background but in placing Pokemon inside I kind of failed.

Hm I agree with you. There is so much space for playing with contrasts and final effects but Sai isn't good for that and I'm usually too lazy to go into photoshop to play with after effects... :/

Wow, your critique is on a totally different level from what I usually get in comments. Are you incorporating all the stuff you've learned on college? Β

It's all right to do what you can (especially since I know how busy you actually are at the moment). I just wanted to provide you some details you can practice or experiment with eventually Β

For the critique, kinda although it takes me forever to write xD In almost every classes, we have to show and explain our idea/project/design on several occasions and we are supposed to get feedback from not only our teachers, but also from our classmates. Our groups are small (around 20 people) so we actually have time to do so. That way, we learn to give critique along with receiving it in order to improve. Plus, it helps us remember the theory we see in class.Β

Oh wow, this is freaking amazing!!!
I can't believe you managed to catch yet another of these collabs, haha! It's always so great seeing your art! I don't even know how you do it! Your art just never fails to mystify and amaze me! Your background is super awesome, all modern and whatnot, fitting in with Porygon Z... not to mention, that high-tech you see on the table!! That's super awesome! You have the best ideas ever!! Sorry if I keep saying super, but I'm just super excited about your art (I said it again -- it wasn't intentional though)! XD
Either way, it's incredible how you can work on your undergraduate thesis AND make such an incredible piece of art!! You're definitely an inspiration to us all~ (And I'm sure you did awesome on it!) Hopefully you'll get another position in the next collab if you plan to sign up for it! Again, splendid work, as always!!!

I'd have thought it would be corporate sabotage. Technically, Porygon-Z is a virus.

But that works too.

or even counter intrusion. I wouldn't be surprised if porygon was originally a project made for such things.

Oh gosh that is such a good idea. If Porygon can travel through internet and download itself on a computer of interest it can then sniff around all files and report back. Geez that would be so handy.

I imagine they are used regularly among the less reputable for just that. and as demonstrated in one anime episode banned for epilepsy reasons the were even equipped with data missiles... which is interesting and makes you wonder just how flexible their coding really is.

This is great! The environment looks so natural and I really like your colour choice: The Blue and Pink of the PorygonZ and the more muted colours of the backgroung. Really cool art!^^

Luckily PorygonZ's colors really do go nicely with grey-ish tones so I really like how the colors turned out too. ^^
Thank you for complimentsΒ  Β

Excuse me Ma'am, I'm from the art police and I have to arrest you for your art being too good. The arrest warrant can be suspended with a posting of bail in form of a slice of your composition skills.

AHHHHH THIS IS EVERYTHING I EVER DREAMED OF
I love how the main Porygon is floating out of the picture while there are still others looking at you. It looks like a totally natural snapshot of that office!
And the cool desk with all the stuff, man... The shading on it is fantastic.
Thanks for your contribution! I love this so much. ;u; <333 Β

No, no, officer, no need for that, please, we can easily come to an agreement. Let's say I trade my composition *cough* skills for your English skills so everyone is happy.Β
(Your composition skills are so much better what are you even talking about 0.o)

Hahaha yeah I bet your work desk will never look god after this right? Unless you actually program a Pokemon and make a floating holo version or something (please do that). This completely accidentaly involved computers for your liking.
Aaah thank you I was really looking at reference for shading whole time because Arceus knows I need to work on that so seeing it actually went well is really rewarding.Β

I'm so glaaaaaad.
(Adorable emoticon is adorable.)

Krisantyne In reply to Leptocyon [2015-05-30 17:31:03 +0000 UTC]

This is the only skill I'm not willing to trade because my English class was basically boot camp, and having this vocabulary is the proof that I survived it. ouo And your English is perfectly fine, too. <333
(I'm gonna fight you about this, let's meet at the flagpole, 4 o'clock!)

My desk has never looked good, I only use it as a landfill for important things I never get around to putting away. A PokΓ©mon could drastically improve it, I'm on it! \o/
Yes, the computers have touched my heart. You're the best.
