Jumping in a bit late here, but I must say that you've created a stunning costume !

Picking up on the LARP thread below, I went to Mythodea this year (2016) and found the players very friendly and curious
towards beast-races.

Thank you so much.
Unfortunatly this Suit ripped apart and I have to redo it. I hope I get some time for this project.

I wont get to Mythodea ever again especially Conquest. I had many problems with my badger, because many people aren't friendly at all. In game I made bad experience and some people I know, told me the same. I think there are a few characters those are quiet nice to beastmens like the Wuwus. Those are freinds of my badger character.
But It's nice to hear that you don't have met people who aren't that bad. xD

I prefer Drachenfest, because there are more of my friends and only a few Problems. xD

Drachenfest sounds REALLY fun by the looks of their webpage. *Sigh* there are so many conventions to attend - and only so much time off.

I'm sorry (and surprised) to learn that you had a bad experience at Mythodea. My own experience was the exact opposite:

when I was in badger character, I could hardly walk a hundred yards without someone asking for a hug or a photo-shoot. My group was invited to attend two weddings, and asked to join a whole handful of camps for the 2017 event. Maybe times are just changing for the better?

Vision however, is pretty limited (because of tear-duct vision) so I was in my human character for about half the time
- and then my group and myself were "just another face in the crowd".

BTW: Who's the "goat character" on some of the photos? That's another impressive costume.

Drachenfest is a week before Mythodea.
I know that feeling, but often it's too stressfull to go on more LARPs then 4 in a year, esspecially when there is one every month. I can't get my stuff done. :I

When I'm in Character I don't want to get hug, or only by a few people. and I don't like it when I can't walk further because many people want to get a picture.
It's impossible to prevent it, but I really want to play. xD
I don't think it has changed that much, because some people changing their decision and went to Drachenfest instead of Mythodea. It's nice to hear that there are a few beastmen which enjoy it.

A human character for changing when you need a break is very important. When I have the choice I prefer my Faun, because she have the same legs as my goat.
sometimes it's convenient to be just another face in the crowd. so you can relax.

The goat is my main character for LARP. There are a few more of them. It's really nice to play a race with their own cultur and it's nice to have a few more of them. xD

I was wondering... i thought most larp players really really disliked animal creatures? I heard lotso stories :'D

Anway, amazing costume. It looks very realistic!

Really?
There are a few animal creature players in germany
and many of them are very popular in a positive way, me too.

More the full costume players then the Make-up-thingies.
This kind of players (the Make-up creatures) have a bad reputation, because it is to human and looks like a Halloween costume.

Thank you for the answer!
Well, i wasn´t too sure. My wife does larp for several years already, and said she wouldn´t dare to show up in an animal creature costume, simply because some people just completly avoid those players or are just disrespectful (and she isn´t a sparkle anime wolf or something).

No Problem! I like it to read oppinions from people from other counties.

We have some of these people, too, but those are only a few.
We are searching for LARPs we can visit very careful and ask the people who organisate this LARP. So we can be sure that it is no problem to visit this LARP with our animal creatures.
In germany are some very big LARPs (1000-8000 people) there isn't any problem for us because there are enough people we know and many people are interested in what our characters are and where our characters come from.
We had got many interesting and funny situations, I don't want to miss this.

I don't know how different Larp is in the United States, but I'd heard that there are many differences. ^^

That actually sounds way more positive than what my wife was telling me about larping here Since she likes travelling a lot, maybe i can gently "kick" her into larp group in Germany.
She started with the idea of an animal like creature, put a few hundred dollars into the costume (and hell, it took forever to get the airbrushing right) but she was discouraged, especially in online forums. What i´ve seen and heard from American larp festivals and so on... well.... men with plastic swords beating the hell outta each other. It´s not easy to find a larp with a good storyline in an interesting location etc., sadly
I´m sure there are good ones, but you really have to search them and/or they´re extremely far away.

Whenever she want to go to germany for a LARP.
One of my friends has an institution named 'the grand expedition'.

He originally comes from the United states, moved to Great Britain and now lives in germany.

The Grand Expedition helps people to visit LARPs in germany.
They are from all over the world.

I know how much work it is and it discourage a lot, when people laugh about it.

beating the hell out each other? wtf?!
We have some people who beat quite hard, but those are not many and they get a warning from the organisators.
Most injuries here are scratches and hematomas from falling.
Sure  there can be more but most of this injuries are unfortunate accidents.

I heard the most used weapons in the united States are Boffers.
In Europe the most weapons are out of foam and Latex and when someone beats each other with it, it will be more theatralic and safe.
Before the weapon can touch the Enemy the beat will be slow down.
beatings on the head is a 'No go'.

Oh thank you a lot! Wrote it down and will do some reasearch

Well, sadly many larps aren´t organized well here. Most have knights in tenis socks and beach shorts running around with giant anime swords. I don´t think it´s a problem when someone can´t afford the super amazing outfit or weapons, but you should at least try. Or it´s just a bunch of people having a BBQ for 3 days

I'm sry for the late answer but I got an ill. :when I hear this i don't want to go to the US for any LARP. Oo°

On big events, we have some of those people, too. But I glad that most of them wear nice clothes..but not everyone.
those people will called raiment barbecuer or in german 'Gewandungsgriller'.
