How the heck did you manage to get a shot like that of a bobcat?? In all my years growing up in the woods probably surrounded by bobcats, we almost never got a good view of them, devious critters that they are...

I had been seeing him early in the morning and late in the evening around the bird feeder for a couple of days so I put up a small blind and hid inside till the showed up. He walked right in front of me and sat down a few yards away and stared at the blind. He knew something was up and it didn't take him long to figure out the blind was not something he wanted to be around so my window of opportunity was short lived. I have seen very few Bobcats myself, they are elusive and secretive animals.

That's a really marvellous pose...it's almost a classical statue! Wonderful the way you have captured all the subtle nuances of colour....don't think I have ever seen a pic of a bobcat where the markings are so well defined...simply gorgeous photograph!!

I'm 99% sure that's actually a Canadian lynx and not a bobcat. Great shot though, beautiful pose.

This is a Bobcat. One sure way to tell is the tail. The black band on the end of the tail on a Lynx goes completely around the tail and on a Bobcat the top of the band is black and the bottom is white. While it may not be obvious on this shot I saw enough of this guy over a two week period to make a positive ID.

Cool. Sorry to doubt your word.

No problem. It's hard even for the experts sometimes to identify Lynx vs Bobcat from a distance. I had a large cat here a couple of years ago and I thought it was a Lynx and even local wildlife experts thought it may be a Lynx because it was quite large, but in the end the consensus was Bobcat and the identifier was the tail.
