Story:

A long long time ago when the lands was locked in eternal Dusk, a young strong Alicorn rose above others and used his unique and powerful magic to Rise the forever lurking sun out from behind the horizon, creating Herdania's first day. All of the little ponies rejoiced, as the bright and warm day brought safety and joy to their hearts. In gratitude, they made the alicorn their king; King Solaris.

But the Alicorn could not keep the sun up forever, or it would dry up all of the water and all of the plants. So, Solaris made a schedule. He would rise the sun up for a few hours for the ponies to enjoy their day and when the ponies got tired, he would lower the sun so that his subjects could rest. The nights without the sun were pitch black and brought fear to all of the ponies, so none would dare to leave their houses, as they would only wander in complete darkness if they would.

For a long time, life was peaceful and everyone enjoyed the new day and night rule... but happiness couldn't last for an eternity it seemed. The King fell ill and was too weak to hold the sun up for as long. He tried his best but the days got shorter and colder until finally the sun stopped coming up. The ponies were scared, surrounded by pitch black darkness and didn't dare to leave their homes. They knew the king was ill and a lot of doctors wished to come visit him, but they could not travel in such conditions. It seemed all was lost but then suddenly something rose over the horizon; it was a beautiful white little sun. It didn't shine as bright, nor was it warm, but it lit up the land, covering the ground in a thin icy blue veil of light. It was just enough for the ponies to be able to see one hoof in front of the other. The pony behind this magic was another alicorn; a beautiful young mare by the name of Crescentia. Using her 'moon' as she called it, she gathered all of the doctors she could find and led them to the king's castle. His condition was bad, but with the combined effort of the doctors, he got better.

Finally the sun rose once more, bringing the much needed light and warmth back the the pony lives. Solaris thanked the doctors for all their help and the doctors told him that the illness was caused because he used up a lot of magic and his body could not handle so much stress, even if he rested during the nights. They also told that if it wasn't for a brave alicorn, creating a temporary light in the sky, they would have not made it to his castle and helped him. The king wished to thank his savior, but as he laid his eyes upon her it was simply love at first sight. The mare felt her heart flutter as she saw the king and returned those pure feelings. It was not long before the two wed and Crescentia became the new queen of Herdania. The little white moon she would rise soon became the symbol of love and hope for all of the ponies and Crescentia ended up rising it every night, to light the darkened paths for the ponies, as if reminding them that there will always be a ray of light even in the darkest of situations.

The king would raise the sun each day and the Queen would raise the moon each night, but as to not repeat the illness that had befallen the king in the past, the kingdom created a time of the year. 'Winter' they called it. During this time of year the days would become shorter and nights would become longer, letting the king rest up more during this season. The queen's time of year was summer, as the days were long and warm, allowing the queen to rest. Spring and autumn were times of change, during which the ponies would prepare for the different amount in daylight they'd be receiving.

All was well again in the kingdom and to this day both King and Queen rule Herdania in perfect harmony.
