Ever since I started playing The Legend Of Zelda series I've always wondered why it was never The Legend of Link. It should be, but come ro think of it, The Legend Of Zelda does sound a little prettier.

It's because Miyamoto wanted the title to have the name of the heroine, while the other two games that he already it had created had a name with the villain (DK) and the other was about a hero (Mario)

that and the fact that in several games you get to name your own character so only his default name is Link, but he will likely be called something different, where as Zelda will always be named Zelda so its a bit more constant.

There was an awesome game called Adventure of Link. AOL.
It's called Legend of Zelda because Zelda is the one retelling the story to her kid(s). That's why sometimes that Link appears to not know what he's doing because Zelda can't remember it right.
