Change one letter in LoZ and BAM! You'll have LoL.Still, this might have prevented people from mistaking Link as Zelda.

If I had to guess, it's because Link wasn't actually important to history as Zelda is, or rather, not as notable a figure. I mean, if you think about it in that way, it does make a bit of sense.Β Of course, this is my thought, and therefore should be taken with a grain of salt.
Zelda's a princess (mostly). Link's... a bunch of things.Β A forest kid. A soldier's nephew. A grandson to a blacksmith. A grandson to an islander. A knight in training. A wanderer. A farm hand. But most importantly, he's a commoner. How often do commoners make it into history?
But regarding the comic, I found it amusing and enjoy your style.

Well, originally it was subtitled "Hyrule Fantasy" (or the other way around I should check the very first Zelda game), anyway the title isn't really so important. At this point it's a well-recognized trademark and it would be strange to change it.Β

Well, Link is mostly the "default" name. Most of us probably use it, but it's never stated in any game that the previous hero the legends usually talk about was named Link.
So in a way, it's the Legend of Zelda, because "the legend of the bunch of weirdly similar heroes who may or may not be called link" would be a tad too long.

Not to be a kill-joy, but the real reason it's not named "Legend of Link" is because Link's name can be changed to whatever the player chooses, so it wouldn't make sense for it to be named after him if his name can change.
