Description
Beyond the global fascination with its traditional and modern culture and entertainment, Japan's history includes enslavement of the Korean people and harsh efforts to oppress their culture and language. There has been no official apology nor are their atrocities acknowledged in their textbooks. And even today, these two nations don't get along very well and are still fighting over almost everything. The whole I'm-going-to-hit-you-because-you-hit-me-first cycle. It's not uncommon for Koreans to really hate the Japanese for historical crimes or just because of their race. The older generation is fading, but they still remember it all so clearly because they were there. Despite the incredibly evil acts committed by the Japanese in the past, I think it's a horrible thing to immediately judge a person by their race instead of their personality and character. A lot of Japanese people are really sweet and nice. A lot of Korean people are really sweet and nice.
All it takes is the sincere willingness to admit that you're wrong and do what you can to try make up for it. It takes immense strength to let go of centuries of tragedy, anger, and sadness, give effort to forgive what is universally deemed as unforgivable and move on. Then maybe there can finally be some peace. No wars, bad blood, suffering, and stubbornness. Just a nice day, good company, tea, and peace under a blooming peach tree.

I tried to go for a light, meaningful children's illustration feel. I tried to bring out the pretty aspects of both of these rich, wonderful cultures.
