Description
Anime World Convention 2011 August 20thVideo Link: [link]
Myself winning a look-alike contest, taken place in the hallway convention. There were a total of approximately 43 contest entries. This contest was held for those at the convention who most accurately portrayed their character.
I attended as L from Death note, and made quite a lot of friends in the process. Many of which have come to contact me on DeviantART and Facebook out of the nice impact I made on them. Many convention attenders treated me with high respect, and I was recognized as the most familiar L cosplayer to his actual appearance that they have witnessed. A lot of people shot photographs of me, whom of which were nearly the entire population of the convention. I was stopped on frequent occasions. A security guard noticed the attention I was given, and questioned whether or not I was a "guest star/famous person", seeing how people reacted to me. He told me that I seemed like a very honored person, and that he supports me.

L is a very honored person. We just cant get enough of him from just the anime. Is very easy to reflect some piece of our nature on him.

Congratulations on winning that award; it was certainly well-deserved! I've never seen a cosplayer who so closely matches L in personality, physical appearance and gait as you do.

It sounds like you had a great time at the convention, congratulations! Do you have any advice for someone who hasn't been to a convention before? (I'll be going to my first one soon, once I've found a clear day that a convention takes place on.)

Advice, hm. I am unsure because that varies according to the person. But if you would like to gather a lot of experience with gaining attention, I highly recommend simply walking around and meeting people. It influences your self confidence, and it makes you experience the full benefits of dressing as a character. After doing this, I was put in positions to be accepted as a certain personality and many people, who I now call my friends, wanted me to join them and speak with them. I just enjoy walking around and observing reactions in solitude, it may be peaceful and self reflecting for you to do as well. Typically at conventions, they usually walk around to go to a panel, where there are activities to do.

If everyone there really knew how you practically /are/ L, you would have won. xD

Come to think of it, it really is not even cosplay. It is just who I am, wearing clothes that remind people of a familiar face. All of this is me..

Well, everyone is supposed to have a "twin" out in the world somewhere. Perhaps yours has been discovered? Though, it is pretty awesome that a character can be created on one side of the world only to have someone real resemble it so much on the other side. Are you sure you didn't take a trip to Japan around 2003?
