Description
A quote by the infamous L Lawliet as featured in the animated series Death Note.An older image of myself.
I do believe that there are some things that can be explained, and then there are others that are left for the mind to carry out its duties of wonder. We unite ourselves with the ability to learn and prosper; yet what we share in common can be as simple as a common letter. Remember there is always a place for life, for we shall remain in our skin yet we will be the furthest from knowing who we are. -Myself
Please, indulge yourself with the original quote from the newest modifications made to the animated series. The following is a video link where this quote can be observed: [link]

Thank you. I have a very specific appreciation for the morals in which Death Note intended to suggest throughout the series in progression, and within the characters; as they exist. For they were created by a psychological understanding of people which then personify how we interperate ideas into a visual embodiment.

Yes, wisdom is more powerful than an amount of intelligence, because I am convinced this in truth is important in life as we walk through it surrounded by obstacles that demand the best of judgment. Which is not an application of calculation.

Yes. You can be as intelligent as you wish, memorize every mathematical equation known to man, and you still will know only a small percentage of what is. And what is to be. There is no power of intelligence if the facts are coated in lies. Thank you. You have taught me an important lesson.

In fact, this quote was not mentioned or featured in the manga series, but rather created as an additional complimentary scene to define more of L's morals and of Death Note's general incite. This was scripted for only the anime series, in a dvd format that is available by the disk in stores only. You can do more research using the terms, Death Note Relight DVD

You know... What he said about being eaten by a monster that doesn't feel, sort of explains how him and kira were at there match against each other.
I mean, in a way light was the monster that destroyed him in a sense. The writers explained that Light and L both had evil in them.
And in the Anime that girl that Light told to commit suicide, (I forget her name) Said that Light reminded her of L. I think the whole message was that they were evenly matched, and were both similar in the sense they were these particular monsters.
EVEN THOUGH L IS- BY THE WAY- TEN TIMES COOLER THAN LIGHT!!! :shot:
IDK I would like to hear your opinion on the subject. ^^

Hm. I do believe that in some ways this was more so relating to how L lived his life as a human being to have become trapped in the personality he has now; thereby understanding how he thinks within what he does to investigate and solve cases. This scene was not necessarily written to extend on the idea of the main "Death Note quarrel" between himself and Light. The monster that L refers to is a symbolic reference to describe how a human being can become certain things based off of the experiences they go through to allow change and self realization. This moral is also, of course, a construct of what Death Note meant and how people change based off of a self perspective. Light was a monster to his own record of seeing in a single position. Which is actually the psychology behind criminals in reality: to be convinced that you are right to redefine truth in justice with hatred. However, L was a monster only to himself because his lies are felt only through personal guilt. Do you recall the scene in episode 25 where L stands in the rain when he asked the question, "Tell me, was there a time in your life where you actually told the truth?" He knew he was going to pass away soon given his calculations, seeing as he preplanned what was to occur between his successors. Thereby expressing the idea that he felt charged with guilt and this moral of being a liar was entirely for a personal connection to the characters.
I would like to ask you to forgive me for this rather late response. I was previously disposed with many busy events in my life.

No, that's quit fine. You're of course forgiven. ^^ (for the late reply I mean.)
I remember that scene in episode 25. I do agree that what L was feeling was personal, giving that it truly came from his past experiences alone. But Near begins the flashback questioning why L was defeated, then L gos on to saying in the flashback that the worse type of monsters are the ones that lie then that if he ever met one he would surely be 'eaten' by it. Kira was the reason L was defeated, not so much of his own doing. Kira is also, one of biggest liars ever, the writers of Death Note stated that L was somewhat evil but kira was much more evil. So I'm assuming that L was a liar, but a good person. Like you said he wasn't really proud of the fact he was this 'monster' and that it was self guilt that ate at him. (he said 'in fact I am that monster.' The guilt ate him)
But kira, kira was never holding this guilt, it practically explained that when L asked the question about having ever telling the truth and Light saying that he lied and that it was fine without any guilty feelings himself. In a way Light knew what he was doing was wrong but willingly did it anyway, lying to himself about being justice and lying to L about pretty much everything without that guilt tying him down. So I guess I'm saying kira was the same type of 'monster' that L was only much more so. Explaining why L was finally 'eaten' by this liar, kira, who did so without guilt. Or in Nears explaining, why L was defeated.
Do you see where I am coming from? Your speech about L and his guilt of himself made me explain it ever so better so I thank you for such a thoughtful reply. Though I'm not too supportive about my view ether, I think its at least a nice thought. A possibility is all I'm stating.
It does have a few holes I admit, but its a thought.

I am entertained by your response. Hah, the character l has always stood beside me as a comfortable way to symbolize my individual person. Seeing as I exist, I saw him as someone who interperates my thinking well though he does not. And therefore I can use his image in some form to allow myself a good audience to understand me. Hense the quote I make is honoring how he was made, so I can look at how he was created, by Tsugumi Ohba, as an influential guide so I can become a good human being like he was interperated as. Since he is as real as how a real human being incorporated life morals in a visual character form. He represents very real qualities of human thinking.
