Description A sixty-something Stude. It had current plates on the back and a Club on the steering wheel, so I'm guessing it's a daily driver. It was in gorgeous condition. Ridiculous baroque embroidery on the seats too.

Says ~pitbulllady :

"This is a '66 Cruiser, which was actually the last model of Studebaker ever made, as the company ceased making cars on St. Patrick's Day(March 17)of 1966. The '65-'66 model year cars were all made in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and had GM 350 engines."

Thanks for the info!

The '65-'66 model year cars were all made in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and had GM 350 engines. This car IS in great shape, but with a bit of effort, many other Studes could still be on the road, too, as they were very durable, built-to-last cars. I drive and show a 1961 Lark VIII Cruiser, one of the rarest models ever made, and it's a mostly-original car. It's got the original Studebaker 289 V8 engine and original transmission in it, and is a nice, comfortable ride. It's always nice to see other Studes still on the road.

I wish I knew anything about cars. Why is this car interesting? Is it rare?

The photo(s) itself is interesting.

Studes were really common once upon a time, but the company folded in 1967. To see one in this condition now, being used for daily commuting, is pretty rare indeed.

What an incredible find! Nice shot. I especially like the way you captured the Stude on the top picture. Great angle that really speaks to the design of the car.

Thanks a lot. I got lucky; the owner left the wheels slightly canted, so it looks really dynamic just on it's own.

I've never seen one on the road. There was one parked and rusting at a junkyard we saw on the way to Jasper, but this one looks like it's in service, which is lovely.
