Description
Over the years, it was no longer the Mane Six's duty to protect Equestria. They were all settled, each living their own lives with new families. Past threats saw this as a weakness to gain control over Equestria. Queen Chrysalis vowed revenge on the reformed Changelings, which were now at a peaceful alliance held by King Thorax and Queen Celestia's marriage. The Changelings began to spread across the land, feeding off the strong amounts of love. Their sole target was the Crystal Empire, composed of the love the Crystal ponies have. Everyone in the Empire was up for speculation. The rulers of the Empire wouldn't lose to the Changelings once more. King Shining Armor led the Crystal Guard to glory against the skirmishes the Changelings brought forth. But Queen Chrysalis had declared war on Equestria. Over the span of a month, hundreds of ponies went missing, including two of the royals. Ponies risked their lives to fight against the Changelings. Allies of Equestria joined the fight against Queen Chrysalis's swarm. Queen Celestia realized that the Elements of Harmony were needed to win the war. The Mane Six were asked to wield the Elements once more to truly save Equestria.
Nostalgic as it was, all six ponies agreed to help the fight. King Thorax and the other reformed Changelings helped the Mane Six infiltrate the hidden bases of the Changelings. Months passed until the Mane Six discovered the base which Queen Chrysalis resided. Chrysalis was cornered, where Princess Twilight tried to reason with the Queen. Chrysalis refused to change her ways; she wouldn't stop until Equestria was hers to rule. The Mane Six were given no other choice.
Chrysalis was killed by the Elements of Harmony.
The war was over. Without a leader, the Changelings had no where to go. One by one, the Changelings were reformed.
The citizens of Equestria could live in harmony once more, thanks to Princess Luna.
Luna had been a silent savior of her kingdom. After raising the moon, she'd soar across the land to ensure everyone was safe. But one night, she discovered an old foe arise. The former King Sombra.
He had reformed with his shattered pieces into just his Shadow form. Luna was horrified that with his return, the Crystal Empire could turn to ruins once more. She hunted him down to find him just on the outskirts of the Empire. She destroyed him for good.
Because of this encounter, Luna knew that someone had to keep Equestria safe. She began to take her role as ruler more seriously. But she knew she couldn't travel Equestria and abandon her children. Her oldest son, Monotone, noticed her different tone. Luna confided to him, for she knew her son wouldn't abandon one's secret.
She decided to stay nocturnal, only making daytime appearances for special occasions, such as the coronations of the heirs to the princesses. Luna payed more attention to her children.
She began to wear a robe because it would comfort her during the toughest nights. The robe was enchanted to never become dirty or destroyed, so she never took it off. Her foals enjoyed the soft, cloud-like trim very much.
Luna still fears for threats such as Lord Tirek, but she's gained a new understanding of herself. Her duties are taken more seriously, but she could never stop hugging her already teen-aged foals. Her foals Monotone, Palest Cosmos, and Dove all mean more than the world could. Despite never settling on a partner, Luna felt she had all she needed.
The citizens of Equestria have yet to recognize their Princess of the Night, but at least some can rest easy knowing she's keeping them safe.
