I know the feeling(sort of). We recently had to put our dog down as well, but it wasn't on any birthday or anniversary or holiday but still. That and I have a lovely mutt that is a close breed to your girl and out of a weird coincidence they share the same first name.

Yeah. The hardest part was how quickly it took place, i saw her last saturday and she was healthy when i was at my parents' house. Mom said she was still healthy monday, she was eating, playing. Then it was like Tuesday, she wasnt as active, she was sluggish. Wednesday, she was laying around and was so weak that my parent's took her in to the vet where they found out she had immune mediated hemolytic anemia, which was a genetic disease. They said she had a 50/50 chance at that time and kept her over night to try and kick start her system back. The next morning, the treatment didnt work, and she was far worse. So my dad had then put her to sleep. 

This disease was common in her breed and some others. the vet said it primarily effects females between the age of 6-7.
