Robin Roy: During an archery contest held to commemorate the opening of a new cultural center by the Wayne Foundation, Bruce Wayne watched as Roy Harper witnessed his mentor and adopted father, Brave Bow, murdered by Onomatopoeia. Bruce took the young archer in and trained him as his sidekick.
Red Arrow and Speedy: Professional archer and forest ranger Roy Harper was hired as caregiver for recently orphaned Oliver Queen. Roy saw in Oliver the same melancholy he had, growing up without parents and later having his mentor, Brave Bow, die. When Ollie took an interest in Roy's archery, he saw a possible sidekick in the plucky young rich kid, and gave him the name Speedy. While Roy is as much a womanizer as regular Green Arrow, he's so far managed to avoid the drama the regular versions have dealt with.
Sumo Roy: After being shot in the chest, Roy Harper took longer to get back to heroics than his counterpart, and, well, put on a deal of weight while out of commission (if that wasn't a understatement). When finally getting back into the game, Roy found it difficult to lose the weight and wasn't making any progress. He decided to use the weight to his advantage and honed his body as a weapon, just as he's able to use, well, anything as a weapon. He can just threaten to sit on someone if they make fun of his weight.
