Which was larger, Tirpitz or the Bismarck?

No wonder Winston Churchill refered to her as The Beast.

The Kriegsmarine were too cautious with Tirpitz. I mean I understand a reasonable amount of concern considering what happened to the Bismarck. But still shes a warship; not some barge to left in anchor in a Norwegian fjord like she was.

Can you blame them though? After the Royal Navy hounded the Bismarck to "his" grave Hitler was determined not to let the same happen to the Tirpitz. The battleships were a key player in the propaganda war Germany waged and losing even one of these vessels made the Third Reich look bad. Also, Hitler launched the war long before he would have had enough capital ships available to even consider engaging the Royal Navy. Except for submarines, the Kreigsmarine was under equipped and inflict little impact without suffering horrendous consequences.

The Fuhrer was a complete and total idiot with regard to naval engagements. Being surrounded by yes men, like Donitz made that all the worse. Not that Raeder was much better, he was at least a realist.

Absurd resolution, but not a Wallpaper ratio. I am sad.

I had a 3 ft model of this way back. I need to build another one. Good job on this and all the other WWII ships!

hehe, but the Tamiya one has nothing on Revell, the level of detail is amazing.
