Description
Yeah, as people mentioned before, Ellen's armor was a little too NGE/Bubblegum Crisis/Dead Space. So I experimented with the helmet a bit. I figure the collar's going to probably be a permanent part of Ellen's cyberware.I think I'm going to go with the bottom one, it's "knight-ish", plus it looks a bit like the Qilin in design.

It's fun to see how an artist goes about design.

Of the five, I personally prefer the fourth design, down from the top, as well as the fifth. I've always preferred helmets like the 4th, at least in combat armor type costumes, because while it anonymizes the character, it adds a modicum of sleekness to the head, which in my own opinion, can be used to ramp up the femininity of the character, without sacrificing practicality.
As for the 5th, I think if you DO go with that, I would either A) extend the faceplace over the back of the head, leaving only the mouth open, which will allow you to utilize the sleekness aspect I was talking bout, whilst leaving a bit of her humanity to bleed through, or B) make the faceplate transparent, perhaps to emphasize that armor isn't only hard surfaces, but it's also forcefields or etc, ala Mass Effect.
PS: I will prolly stea-ahem, borrow, the fourth design from the bottom, if you don't mind. I have my own future soldiers I need to get off my ass to design, and that helmet goes in well with most of the ref's i've found for the base armor.

I pretty much figured, while Ellie's working for the UN, her helmet will be a mix of the middle one and the one below it, it'll be the sleek mask and red bits on the cheeks, but instead of the spidery tiny eye dots, I'll used the big blue circles like the middle one.
I'm going to give her the bottom one (and like you said, I'm going to make it a full helmet instead of a mask) after she goes out of system and interacting on other worlds.
Hehe, feel free to borrow away, I've been seriously pondering opening the world to others.

I do like the idea of an evolving look/feel to characters; that's one of my favorite things to DO when making characters, making them evolve and change over time whilst remaining the same person. If you do go for the big blue circles, look at some refs for [link] and [link] so you can see how they deal with the sleek head over round eye looks.
And thanks ^_^ I prolly will use it, but I am anything but quick, so it'll be a while T_T

Yeah, I love the concept refinement stage, but sadly, sometimes I get lost in it.
When it comes to the big blue circles, I was inspired by KrΓΆnen from the Hellboy series. I loved the Prototype trailer, and I really like how his face looks, I may drift more to the "goggle" style from the Prototype trailer and 9.

Mm, they all have some cool aspects to them, but I think I agree that the bottom one is the choice to make.

The bottom looks very "anime" in design. I almost feel like it should be in Macross The second from the bottom was my choice. The "bladders" look cool and it looks like you could have fun with them breathing in and out, expanding and contracting

I think I'm going to use that one, and swap out the 6 camera holes for the large blue "eyes" from the one above it.
