Description
"Please Skipper. Come back with me, you don't need Cerberus. The Alliance and the Council need you" desperation in Ashley's voice as she pleads. Clenching her fists in that stubborn way, standing perfectly right, like a good soldier girl. After a long moment Gunny Chief Ashley Williams breaks eye contact with her former Skipper, and with a whisper, "I need you."
"I can't Ash. You know me, you know I'm not part of Cerberus.."
"I DON'T!" The young Marine interrupts. "You left... you left me. What was I supposed to do without you..."
"Ash"
"No! Go back to Cerberus. I don't need you, Earth doesn't need you. Just be Cerberus' puppet!" Anger flaring in her voice, causing Shepard to flinch.
"I... I'm sorry Ash. I have to do this. You're better off without me" turning to leave, the former Marine, ship Commander, first human Spectre, can only take one step before she's stopped. Strong arms wrap around her for a quiet moment, then one comes up and caresses her scarred face.
"No... we're all better with you. I am better with you. Go, save the day. If you die on me again... I'm storming Heaven to get you." With that Ashley lets her Skipper go, one more time. Long minutes pass, before Alex Shepard sees her best friend standing beside her.
"Yeah... I know Garrus, I fucked it up again."
"Hey, I wasn't going to say anything." His long arm resting on the shorter woman's shoulders. The Turian's mandibles twitch in the irritatingly smug smirk of his. "But for a woman who can save the galaxy from a Reaper invasion, you're a terrible talker."
"Shut up Garrus..." the petite human grumbles, only to be met with a chuckle. Sighing Shepard looks over at her other companion, "Miri... call Joker for a pick up... and plot us a course for Omega... I need to get drunk and forget about this fucking planet."
"Yes Commander"

I will admit that I've never liked Ash being default in the Phoenix armor line. Pink and white on a Marine? Also, I never did like how the Horizon conversation went in game (the little email sent later on apologizing to you doesn't really make up for it), so much prefer this version.
And I just had the silly thought that Shep is in the 2185 version of the Wasp Corps.

Let's be honest, regs have changed quite a bit in the past 70 years, I'm sure they'll change more in the next 170. Altho, you are correct, this is ME2 Shep, so she's not even a Spectre at this moment. In my Shep timeline, she cuts her hair short after turning herself into System's Alliance MPs after the destruction of the Batarian colonies.

Okay, first I like the pic, very tender.
But there is a question I have been meaning to ask for a while now, What is with the unusual hair styles you give many of your characters. The shaved patch on the side, I have seen it on some of your other work and wonder why you chose that particular look.

And he came around just like Ashley did and acted much the same durng the Udina ultimatum I take it? In all fairness, the major bit of distrust was in the first real mission together and in one situation that from Ashley's/Kaiden's perspective would have looked suspect.

So then it doesn't matter which of them you saved, you would have still had to deal with that mistrust, so regretting saving one character over another doesn't make much sense if you think about it.
