At last I have completed one of the most complex composite sculptures I have yet made. I have posted a few previous WIPs of this work. Now it is finished just in time for the Orycon Artshow in Portland, Oregon (November 12-14, 2010).

The final touches included the copper leaf applied to the horny and toothy bits and the cats eyes.

This won the "Director's Choice" Award at Orycon 2010 in Portland.

THANX,

This one is the size of a dog head. I have been working on another that is as big as a horse head.

I'm working on another dragon head that is four times the size of this one.

Wow. Is that going to be difficult to hang? I don't know how heavy these guys would get.

It will weigh less than the equivalent sized Elk head. I am using urythane and other light weight materials.

Wow. Okay. It's amazing, looks so solid and heavy.

The metalic painjob makes it look heavier than it is. It can hang on a wall by a single nail.

THANX.

I intend to post a little how-to on the making of this head. It is one-of-a-kind, but I am making other dragon heads out of found parts.

Have a look at my sculpture gallery:

Most of my recent postings are what are referred to as "resculpts". They are composits of many different parts. All of my winged bunnies started as garden statues to which I have attached wings from toys or other cast figures. Several of my statues have have been "reskinned" by adding scales as hand shaped applique's.

If you want to make a rabbit dragon, this is how it can be accomplished.

THANX.

I put a lot of time into it.

On another note, it is also very tactile. It can be appreciated by touch.

How you make those things O.O???

LEXLOTHOR In reply to ThinkingToMach [2010-11-07 05:34:48 +0000 UTC]

I will be posting a "how-to" on the fabrication of this piece soon. It is a composite of many parts from toys, figurines, brick-a-brac and picture frames held together with car body repair "bondo" epoxy.

I think so too. I've never made anything like this before. It took so long to finish this, that I have already started on a second dragon head that is four times the volume.
