Description
More of my natural history museum photography can be seen in my DA "Paleo & Sci Illo" gallery:lexlothor.deviantart.com/galleβ¦
Desmostylians represent an odd branch of the Afrotheria. They are distantly related to elephants and sea cows. Imagine a creature that resembled both a hippo and a walrus is size and shape. They were semi-aquatic and had a circum Pacific distribution during the Miocene. This mounted skeleton is on display at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles.
