This is great, really nice painterly style that's loose but doesn't neglect detail either. The lighting's spot on, and what a great angle to draw it from!

I used photoshop 5.5 when I worked on that image. It took about 18 hours of messing around because I didn't know what I was doing. I feel I have learned enough since then to do this in half the time. But I often get distracted in trying different layout and compositions, which makes my image making time just as long as before...

Those hybrid mini Rexes wuth Ray legs were pretty weird looking. But they seem to provide very versitile coverage until they ran into Raiden.

I use mostly the slanted markert looking brush. That and a lot of gradient.

Didn't get a chance to comment on this when I fav'd it yesterday - It's very good. I don't know if you were deliberately paying homage to Yoji Shinkawa but there's a far bit of his style in here, as well as an evident original viewpoint that takes this picture a step beyond his 'simple' sketches and paintings.
