For a while I thought it was a mech from MechWarrior: 3050 or something but, I don't know the MGS story that far back so I wouldn't know-- awesome pic though, you really know how to make those colors stand out!

Looks like a fun ride. Appears very lightweight and very fast. Surprising how many weapons it can carry for something so small. Would be hard to choose which gun to shoot. With all the weapons on display I think it would make the exibitors rather nervous.

Here's a webpage for it from the classic game. [link]

Whooa... I never knew about these things...
Then again, I was never able to play Solid Snake, though I read the Back Story in MGS1. That... pane of glass/screen/seperator thing on the left side is a cool addition. You should start doing doing concept/matte paintings for gaming companies.

Only game with "mechs" I played was Mechwarrior III. Though it was fun.
I set up my own weapon scheme, and was able to finish other mechs with one shot. But after two shots my mahine need to turn off for a while to cool down. And stomping on tanks is fun.

Cool pic. Nice angle.

serbius3 [2003-09-26 08:30:00 +0000 UTC]

DAMN! Is this open canvas again? This is even more detailed than the other stuff I've seen you do. MetalGear is a classic. The angle is great. Really gives a good sense of perspective to the size of the D model. I also like the scanline/bluring effect you did on the left. Really helps "push" your eye back to the D model.

I think the sweeper looks a little unfinished, but I still can't fathom how long this took you to paint. Yet another piece of outstanding work

lhs In reply to serbius3 [2003-09-26 08:34:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

This is the set of MGs I started before I found OpenCanvas. So. it's left in that form. Finished in Photoshop. It just have much better geometric properties than Open Canvas. OC is more of a direct painterly approach asn opposed to Photoshop's capability to perform perspective transformations, text modifications. Layer adjustments. Photoshop is just much better rounded for this purpose.

This took a little more than 10 hours now that I think about it.

The sweeper was thrown together for a scale reference.
