Would it be possible to wear a bra under it? I like to have some sort of padding, otherwise I'll be really self-concious <_<

I just made this, seems to be pretty effective although I doubt it'd work on larger boobs (I'm a B-cup). I found though it works better if you twist it around so that the laces are at the back, otherwise my boobs popped out. I also added an extra strip of cotton around it with a safety pin for further binding.

For people with bigger boobs, what do you mean by making the length used 4 inches smaller then your boob size? Does it mean the length had to be 4 inches smaller or the height has to be? SorryΒ

I think I like this better than the elastic tutorials i've seen floating around, at least this way you can adjust if you need to without having to sew anything, and quickly untie it in case of an "I-cant-breath-and-I'm-having-a-panic-attack" emergency

I found a Sohoeva binder on Ebay for 10 bucks. Brand new and shipped in about 12 days. It works awesome and I'm like a C40+

Or just get a binder. But actually pay for it. Don't go onto a binder giveaway meant for people that need them.

FOR PEOPLE THAT DON'T KNOW SINCE THE OWNER IS OBVIOUSLY NOT REPLYING TO ANYONE THIS WILL WORK FOR AN A CUP-C CUP MAYBE A D-CUP BREAST.
The fabric you WANT to use for this particular tutorial would probably be a medium weight cotton with no stretch.
If you want one that will "stretch" so to speak and give better binding. Sew the front instead of making it lace. Sew it 4 inches smaller than your bust size and use heavy duty Lycra/spandex.

For larger breasts (D-DD), I would suggest getting a girdle. You can get them from Wal-Mart for about $10-$15. You want to use the changing rooms to try it on and MAKE SURE YOU CAN BREATHE! We don't want you dead before the con! They don't work the best and you have to layer so the boning doesn't show, but they are comfortable (as long as you take good care of them)and they hide your breasts as long as you layer. They're also MUCH cheaper than professional binders.
One thing the Artist doesn't tell you is that, for most breast sizes, it is better to pull the breasts to the side (where you nips will be pointing more towards your arms than the person in front of you). That will flatten the front, and if you are wearing a jacket or cloak, it will hide the bumps on the sides.
Also, if you are going somewhere cold (or with lots of pretty cosplayers ^___^), a small swatch of medical or athletic tape (NOT duct, electrical, packing, or ANY non-medical) can be placed over your nips to hide those annoyingly obvious bumps. Medical or athletic because it breathes. Be prepared for a little bit of discomfort when removing, but it is usually not too bad.

I'm not sure of your chest size, but do you think this would work well for, say, E to F cups? (As you can imagine from that, I have massive binding problems, pun intended XD

Goddesofthemoon In reply to Chains-of-Blood [2013-01-31 05:42:09 +0000 UTC]
No it would not. You want to look for chest binders on the professional level. Check for tritops with extra support. Unfortunately after a certain size, usually D-DDD I recommend not cosplaying male characters because proper binding would get you at about MAYBE a B to full cup C.

Ahhk, thanks, I have tried professional binders, but as you said, they only get me down to a B cup or so, and despite being made for my size chest, they ar ehorribly loose around the rest of my body. At least I could get away with a loose shirt chubby male XD It sucks that I tend to dislike all the female characters in Anime. Anyway, thanks for your time. Have a nice day!

What would you say would be the maximum cup size for this? Not taking breathing into account, of course. ^_^ I've used surgical stomach wraps in the past, which always worked well since they cover my torso and belly. But lately I've been wanting to try something new due to my growing size. >_<

Wonderful!!! I was curious because I have a larger chest, and where the surgical wraps used to work amazingly, they don't so much anymore. I am hoping that this will work better and I could get a better fit. Thank you for the reply! I really appreciate it!

This tutorial could use more details such as what type of fabric to use, how many layers and so on. Also, not using grommets would pose a risk of the lace wholes ripping out when you lace it up or worse, in the middle of a con.
Not to be too picky, but a Corsage is a flower used for decoration typically worn on the wrist. I think you were going for Corset, but those are used to give more curve to the waist. This is actually a girdle.
The concept is rather nifty though.

To Hakudoushii, who blocked me because she can't bear with the thought of me replying to her comment because then she might actually have to come up with more badly chosen insults:
I'm friends with several ftm trans (most of them being cosplayers) and I'm a biologically female genderqueer myself, sweetie, so I'm not grasping for straws here.
Where's the biased part of this? Biased because I cosplay? Or biased because I'm part of the trans* community and I've supported others in it since I knew what the word 'transgender' meant? Biased because I think that using the term 'female to male' is alright to be used for things that are related to, I dunno, female to male related things? Especially in a case like this, which could actually be used for ftms who haven't gotten or can't afford to get top surgery?
You seem to assume a lot of things, like my gender.

This is great. I sighed when I saw someone flipping out saying this insulted ftms... I'm at ftm, and I don't mind that you're using this to help cosplayers as well as ftms. Some people.
