Description Get ready for the duo that will send fear, panic, dread, despair and terror into their targets before the poor foolish victims know it. 

Inspired by some ticking sound (or beats that sounded really like ticking) I heard from a song.

  • Hey there, I'm from and I thought I might rustle up a quick critique for you.

First let me say that this piece is really cool, you did an excellent job with the background and all the gears. I like how the ground falls away and that they're standing on yet another gear. The poses are pretty good and the anatomy is also fairly on point. Additionally the character design works really, seeming to fit right in with the landscape.

Alright now for the crit. The first thing I'd like to bring your attention to is the arrangement of things. I think the picture would read/look better if the girl was shifted to the left of the canvase. Still keep her current pose and all just move her to the opposite side of thing. Next I'd take the background/middle ground and shift the entire mass to the right some, enough that you could still see the back gears in the space between him and her while also leaving enough room for viewers to easily notice the floor dropping away. The reason for all this is that people read from left to right( at least in the west). In the current picture, you have viewers entering the picture and immediately dropping into the background. You want them to see and experience the foreground first, then move to the middle ground and so on. So by shifting your girl to the left, you're ensuring they see the foreground first while also creating a smooth transition to the background and your other character ( who has a fantastic hat btw).

A quick note about the man. His eye might be placed a little high. A good rule of thumb to follow with this is that the eyes fall halfway between the top of the head ( the skull not the hair) and the bottom on the chin. Continuing onto the girl, this one is a bit nit-picky so feel free to ignore it. Her glasses should be sitting a smidgen lower with the bridge ( or whatever it's called) actually rest on the nose.

Lastly, you're light source is a little confusing. I don't really know where the light is coming from. It generally seems to be coming down from overhead, but you occasionally have shading on top of various forms ( her left forearm for instance). Also, the large silver pipe just behind the girl has that highlight which suggest the light is coming from somewhere off to the upper left, but the girl looks like the light if coming from directly in front of her. I know lighting is terribly complicated, however, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Thank you so much for the critique, especially talking about the problems in detail. It helped a lot since I'm considering in doing another piece, and now I know what part I should watch out for.  

I did notice that the light source is confusing. Mainly because when I was working on it, I'm working it piece by piece. I was drawing one part at a time, coloring and shading. I'll work on improving that.
