As he perched the rooftop he could see his first assignment. Down below on the street the pale light shined from the fading street light and the occasional car passing through the tired city. The concrete roof felt cold as ice and his whole body chilled even though there was not a single gust of wind on the lonely rooftop – not even a friendly breeze. The sin that he had committed could not possibly have been worth the cost, he thought, of his new existence as a fallen angel. As he slipped off the roof without causing a single whisper in the cool night, he swear he would find his way out of this curse and make things right.
