Yuna from FFX -Prang Colored Pencils
based on a CG image from game
i did this about 4 years ago but just never finished it; i decided to upload it unfinished since i know i probably won't do any more work on it.

thanks! i used Prang colored pencils on this piece, which are cheap, hard lead pencils.

um, let's see... to achieve that saturated color for her eyes, i just started lightly layering the color (like 10-20 layers) until it was laid on thickly and appeared to be the same color as the pencil itself. leave no white space! and for the really dark/saturated parts, just press hard with the pencil!
i looked in your gallery, you have some really nice line art. it seems you are way more creative than i am, which is something that cannot really be learned (unlike shading/coloring). so actually, you are probably a better off artist than i am! thanks for looking X).

damn, i thot this was cg'd first. how the hell did u blend like that with colour pencils? u reely shuda finshd it, proportions and softness on it is wicked!! i gave up colouring pencils sometym bak 4 fotoshop n life drawin, this makes me wana go bak

hey, thanks for taking interest in it and giving compliments! for blending, i layered the colors on very lightly using really thin lines and then used my finger to blur the colors together. colored pencils still have their place for me even though i use Photoshop now too, because it's not only good practice (no undos!) but also a bit easier to work with tangible pencils and paper that i can actually hold in my hand.

I seriously need to learn how to use coloured pencils too, all my drawings are black and white ._.

i didn't take any drawing lessons... all you do in drawing lessons is practice replication! so if i put in the time on my own, practice a lot of drawing from life and pictures, who needs lessons?
i learn more by just doing it repeatedly. plus, i am more likely to learn from drawing for fun than i am by being forced to do it by someone else. try drawing a subject you love for practice (hence all the Final Fantasy in my gallery)!

this piece was actually my very first attempt at drawing in color, kind of a test for myself to see how well i could replicate. replication is my favorite way to learn to draw new things.
it took me a looooooong time to transfer from b/w to color drawing. but once i understood value and shading in b/w, it made shading in color much easier for me. so, yeah, don't rush into using color, it can stunt your growth!
i have a huge problem not finishing things though...
