Description
"Keep looking up, that's where miracles come from."It was actually really foggy when I took this photo. You couldn't see clearly beyond maybe 20-50 feet or so. I'm guesstimating. lol
Tip 3: Teach your dog stay!
You want them to be able to stay in any position you put them in.
Of course this isn't necessary to take photos of your dog, but it definitely pays off when you want to take portraits such as this. This picture might not show it, but I did position him exactly how I wanted him (excluding the head of course) and told him to stay.

Gorgeous Golden.
Reminds me of my dog Daisy when she was about 2 years old- her frame was very similar, but she's filled out some. Still smart as ever.
Goldens are very intelligent dogs.

They are a bit similar, aren't they.

Yes they are lol. Goldens change so much within that first 2 to 3 years.

Great shot!! Absolutely love his expression I used to have goldens all the time, but now we've got a chocolate lab - I definitely take pictures of her like crazy haha

This is amazing, i draw peoples pets and i get so frustrated because people can never really capture their pet like you were able to. Their pictures just look like dumb dogs

Ooh, a darker Golden. ^^ My Rudy is pretty dark too, and I love that color. ♥
That's so cool that you got him to pose like that! You must both be really patient. ^^

Me too.
Lol He was actually looking at some geese that were flying over head, so I supposed it was more a matter of luck. ;D
But I am very lucky to have a dog that puts up with me posing him and having him do all sorts of things just to take a picture. ^_^

gorgeous pup!
My golden, Audi, doesn't like it when I take photos of her.
She always sits and looks around impatiently...
She does stay, however.
It's a battle to get her to look at me, haha.
I have to have a REALLY good treat for her.

Lol I usually just throw something. XD Otherwise he's looking all over the place.

I'll try that, but I think she might just chase whatever I throw. o.O
I just hope that this summer I can take her to the beach most days and get her in the beach grass and stuff.

He's beautiful
every time I tell our dog to stay that I can take photos she turns her eyes back and has this annoyed expression in her face... she hates posing

Thanks!
Keep working on it. After you have her in a stay, have you tried throwing objects (like a ball), or jangling keys or some such? I didn't use it for this photo (he was looking at birds lol), but I have found it to work beautifully when setting up your shot. ^_^ It really gives them a nice, focused expression.

oops I spy a typo, I meant ears not eyes xD (you might have noticed English is not my first language...)
well, she's 11 years old now and knows all about this taking-a-photo thing so she is not easily distracted from it but thanks for the advice
Fortunately I don't have this problem with our other two dogs and I also get to take some nice photos of her when she runs free
I really like your photographs, I'm gonna give you a watch now

Unfortuantely my dog isn't as understanding...
Me: "Stay!" *backs away a short distance*
Dog: *waits a while* "WAIT DON'T GO!" *runs towards me*
You have a beautiful dog. He's bigger than normal for Golden Retrievers, isn't he? And not to mention that he's not exactly golden.
I like it. xD
His coat would look nice with green grass, wouldn't it? Just my opinion.

Lol Gotta keep working on it.
Thanks!
He is from working/field lines, so he has a lighter frame than most Goldens (making him look tall I suppose he's only 60 pounds though). But he is within the standard at 24 inches.
I love his rich color. ^_^ Most field bred Goldens are this dark and darker. His sire was actually red. lol
It would. 8D Unfortunately the snow is just melting here so we only have brown grass. lol!
