I would have made Celestia say "Now sisters", including NMM as another sister with Luna.
And Celestia and Luna would fight to keep NMM among them, accept her as a new sister.

You'd think somebody would try using a narrowed, high-concentration beam instead of a massive blast of power by now.

Tirek can't absorb a power when it's egal or superior to him =o (he can't absorb Twilight's blasts nor alicorns or Discord magic before he was strong enough)

I think that because Tirek's blast is so big, they have to go "big" as well. Either that or a smaller, more precise blast would take too much focus and thus take away from the "pow" that a raw and huge blast is offering at that moment or be completely overwhelmed by the size of the blast. In short, it'd be like a Rapier sword ramming a huge shield. Sure, the sword if directed to the right spot would deliver a lethal strike but the one wielding the sword would ALSO be done for! So in their case, it seems like we've got two firehoses shooting at each other and whoever overwhelms the other with their pressure, wins! Still, you have a point and if Evil Luna did that powerful, precise blast THROUGH Tirek's blast while the good Celestia and good Luna hold off and/or part a path enough for that precise blast to get through, then it MIGHT work but then they'd have to risk failing to hold back Tirek's power and become overwhelmed, becoming so much ash in the process and failing to help the Mane 6 save their time friend. What Tirek doesn't understand is if they fail in restoring her, then EVERYONE, Tirek included would most likely have been destroyed.

I really hope, that Nightmare Moon won't be removed.
Even Celestia and Luna may try to preserve her somehow, maybe even talking down Tempora for making exeption.
Celestia because she managed to truly help her wounded sister without using of ultimate, forceful means, as she should from beginning and Luna because she know very, very good, what Nightmare feel and need.
And later Night would prevail over Day, because of democratical advantage of Luna and NNM over Celestia.

Celestia being badass instead of being useless in a comic... What kind of AU world I ended up in? No author ever make Celestia or Luna useful and badass in their comics (they are all mostly trying to think of ways how to write the pricnesses off the story or how do they screw up to make the bad guys look powerful).

For Timey Wimey, one of the purpose of this part of the story it was to do a cross intrigues. Like many series or movie. Just talk about the story of Tempora it was...not interesting for readers and counterproductive because the character of Tempora was imposed as "THE IMPORTANT CHARACTER" of the story, but it only serves the story.
This part was also used to draw a parallel with Luna at certain motivations.
I think the problem I think the problem you're talking about for another author, comes from the misuse of a storytelling tool to introduce a potentially dangerous villain.And they want to put forward these characters at any price without trying to make them integrate the story.
It's a particular subtlety. A character in normal times, must serve the narrative, out a lot of people are trying to make a story that revolves around only their characters. Or your favorite characters of the show.
