Time to wet those whistles with some more Cereal and Pajamas teasers.For the anthology, we are all doing pinups for another creators story. I got Wayward Wolf, which is the creation of *trialsze and features the art of *TraditionalDanimatio and ~luxun . Though the story for the anthology is a little more grounded in reality, the core concept of the book is a space cowboy bonanza.
At work a couple of weeks ago, the lead concept artist did a painter x workshop for anyone interested, and it looked like so much fun, I decided to try it out for this pic. I was really going for that animated still look. Something a little different than the norm for me.

Big Pimping. The background is so fantastic. I want that workshop. Your work is crisp and clean, but the detail on the cowboy and horse have far surpassed much of your regular work.

hahah, well the workshop was more on just where the tools were. The application of those tools was the money I paid for my education at hard work.

wow, if this is the future i want to live in. i've always been fascinated with cowboys but this certainly does put a new spin on what i think of them. the horse is cute though, i wouldn't mind having my own robot horse some day. really loving the expression you have on the rider; it seems depressed but i still love it regardless. good use of gradient in the sky! i love how it gets dark and red so quickly towards the top. gives definitely to the sky, and creates a more solemn atmosphere near the rider. well done

hahaha... well thanks Holly. I definitely tried to take my time with this, from concept to final execution, and actually hold myself to a level of accountability in each step and take my time to make this piece as strong as possible, with only the limit of a deadline to hold me back. So having no major constructive crits feels great, knowing that I was able to achieve my goal.

Space cowboys... awesome. Liking the pic, Mike. Gots that whole "On the road again" feel to it. The thumbnail made me think he was riding a pinata, but I haven't quite woken up yet. Love the robo horse, but also the details in the bg and his kinda efforted pose,like he's got saddle sore

we are just using comicspace and myspace. If it ever gets bigger, we might get a dedicated website, but for right now, those afford us everything we need.

ah, I just hate saturated colors. They feel generic. Ultimately, its the same as any other coloring... make the focal points more saturated, and make your darkest darks frame everything you can.
That, and just be a titan in the art field.. like me. mwa hahahaahaa
