So you have a merchandise shop? I was wanting to create one for my own designs. Are there any tips or recommendations that you could give me for creating my own online shop?

There are a bunch of different companies out there who will, like say Society6 do printing to order. It's a good way to offer stuff as no cost to yourself. If you want to offer things via your own private store, or say etsy, you have to sort out printing, shipping and everything. Doing both can work very well.
