Description This is a silhouette of Maynard James Keenan, lead singer of Tool, and signifies the first thing I have ever started working on purly to post here on DA. It was inspired by a combination of seeing tool at the 2007 Big Day Out and my friend Bec who saw them three times in four days (she defines rock). I started off tracing the shape from a photo but ended up moving the top left (his right) hand up and back to get it out of his Mohawk. I also lengthened the torso a little to better suit the image.
The back ground is a simple bit of photoshop brushwork and rectangular marqueeing.

-Photoshop CS2

Dedicated to bec, ronnie and any other tool fans.

Indeed. Unbelievable live show. Tool and muse co-headlined the big day out this year and played one after the other. I was knackered by the end but it was so worth nearly dying, getting into the stage D.
Thanks for the and multiple comments.

Can I get a hell yeah?
Cover art is brilliant but still not as cool as that of 10,000 days...

Yeah, and 10,000 Days doesn't even compare to Lateralus. That one was my favorite album. It had my FAVORITE SONG EVER even though Tool's not my favorite band (that goes to Nine Inch Nails ).

Hehe, yeah I was in a record store the other day, listening to Year Zero and decided to buy With Teeth instead.
All the love in the world, the hand that feeds, only, every day is exactly the same... just keeps getting better and better.

Well, Year Zero is actually pretty good, too. I like it better than [WITH_TEETH] in some respects. See, I haven't heard any NIN song I disliked, but I have heard ones I didn't like much. But on YZ, I like 'em all! None as much as any of the good stuff from The Downward Spiral, obviously, but the worst from YZ was better than the worst from TDS, y'know?
Oh, have you seen any of the Broken movie? I saw the videos for "Help Me I am in Hell," "Pinion," "Wish," and now "Gave Up." Oh man. Wow. Jeez.
I have the UK copy of Further Down the Spiral, it was my brother's, and I have no idea how he got it! It's...weird, y'know? I mean, I live in the US, how did I end up with a UK-only release??

All you need is one of:
-A good record store
-An internet connection

FDTS was released here too.
We seem to get everything about a month before the US or UK. Dunno why.

I've always wanted to go there.

Yeah, it's a cool place to live when it isn't rediculously hot.. I live near Adelaide which is nice but Melbourne is way more fun.

Have you heard of a band called The Woods ? They're from Perth in Western Australia. I actually found out about 'em here on dA, the artist who did their EP cover's on here.

Falacy are pretty small right now but.. holy shit balls.
I usually don't go for bands with female singers but that girl has some freaky-awesome stage presence plus she can sing better than any of the bimbos on mtv.

magical---trevor In reply to LightController [2007-11-14 19:46:58 +0000 UTC]

Heh. Yeah, bands with female singers generally aren't very good, but...I'll check 'em out. Falacy, right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LightController In reply to magical---trevor [2007-11-15 01:09:58 +0000 UTC]

Yep, Falacy. I have never actually listened to any of their recorded stuff but the live show went off... amazing stage presence.
Nirvana, Soundgarden, pearl jam are masters of their craft...
The strokes are alright however I have a great desire to punch jack white.

Yeah. So that means you do like grunge?
Why, you don't like him?

is fallacy's myspace (two L's in fallacy).
Unfortunately the music on their myspace is rather more girly sounding than their live show. Her stage presence really makes it.

Alright, I'll check 'em out.
Hey, d'you like Queens of the Stone Age?

LightController In reply to magical---trevor [2007-11-16 23:41:23 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, QOTSA older stuff is pretty decent.
Thr Strokes are ok but not so into The White Stripes, The Hives or The Vines.

Just saw muse again on wednesday. Even better in a proper show than a music festival. Unfortunately they were supported by the checks who were so bad that the roadies setting up for muse got more applause.

Ah.

Nice. I'd love to go to a Muse show.

Yeah, if you ever get a chance to see muse, they are well worth the (rather high) expense.

Yeah, grunge has it's place in my record collection, just not high rotation any more. More of the tool/NIN sort of thing. "the sickness" by Disturbed is an album worth checking out. It was release in 2000 but a friend recently put me onto it.
[link] is my favourite song of their's closely followed by [link] and [link] .
None of those are official videos but the songs are all off of that album.
Tony Font Show are a good local band of the experimental/funk/rock/metal persuasion; [link] [link] .

I just can't like the white stripes. Just too annoying.

What do think of primus?

magical---trevor In reply to LightController [2007-11-16 21:01:26 +0000 UTC]

First one's ok, second one's great, third...eh. I like the song "Down with the Sickness" myself. I bet you can't guess what album that's from LOL.

Hmm. Checking out Tony Font Show now, they're...pretty cool.

Huh. Well, do you like any of the big four garage rock revival bands? (The White Stripes, The Hives, The Strokes, The Vines)

I actually think I've only heard one of their songs.

LightController In reply to magical---trevor [2007-11-13 10:32:19 +0000 UTC]

Nah, most WA bands don't tour in south/north/central/eastern australia because it is just to far to travel unless they are already getting decent money for gigs. By the sound of their myspace page, they are a bit heavier than I usually go for. I have a pretty broad musical taste; that side of it is more heavy rock verging on metal. So sevendust, disturbed (the sickness is a crazy album), RATM, NIN, Tool, Mike Patton (too many to list bands) and others. In terms of australian stuff, Karnivool, Bushido, Freestate, Dead Letter Circus and Cog are all worth checking out in that order (they all have myspace pages).

Ah. Alright.
Hey, do you like grunge? Y'know, bands like Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam?
And what about garage rock? Or, the revival at least. (The "The" bands; The Hives, The Strokes, The Vines, The White Stripes.)
