Description A render I did 3 months ago on a terrain which I combined in GeoControl2 from 2 terrains exported from different Mojo-Planets. Rendertime was 3 hrs 7 mins with EBD on @3840x2400; atmo and surfaces compiled from my own presets.

Hope you like it

Edit: After some serious advice over on Terranuts and also the first comment here, I decided to take the green planet out.
Sorry to those who have faved it because of it already^^

you really need to teach me how to do this...

LightDrop In reply to solariguti [2012-05-25 22:57:55 +0000 UTC]

Oh my lil sis - thisone is pretty simple. Just render an alien-looking landscape, add the planet in Photoshop on a new layer (most of my planets I do with the 'Lunar-Cell-Plugin' from FlamingPears) according to the lighting of your landscape (in this case the light comes from the back slightly shifted to the left so it appears nearly full; if the sun is in the scene you have to do the right phase of the moon/planet. back to this pic - cause its nearly full I added a layer-mask for the planet and played around with blending on the mask (a simple black/white progression)till it looks right ) - that's all
If I had not enabled the ExtraBlendedDetail-Feature, this scene would have rendered in ~1hr postwork between 30- and 45 mins...

Looking forward to see your first TerraSpace-Scene

your bro

It's not that much work. Do you think there would be any interest for a tut like that?
I would make one - but there only a few terrageners left out there and so I don't know...

Discovered and first settled (because of the similarity to Rajastan) by the Indian-Federation in 2089...

Do you like to write the rest? Because - if you are a word-weaver you have much more talent than me on such things I guess, cause I'm just a digital landscaper...

Why not? And you have all the time you need...
Maybe you're interested in another story concept too? I'd made this concept some years ago, but didn't take it further, cause English isn't my first language and in German nobody here would read it I guess; however, it's an expandable story and I would have some ideas as well. If you're interested you can look here -> [link]

I love the overall ambience over the picture.
But there are a few things that bothers me: firstly; the lighting, you can see it drops from left to right on the mountains, but on the blue planet - from top to bottom. And the green planet seems to have a third lightsource. And second; the green planet/moon. It seems to be floating inside of the atmosphere. It is way too much of an eyecatcher. Maybe the blue planet also, it should be faded some more I think.

Except from all that; it is a nice picture that I actually could have hang on my wall. Good work!

LightDrop In reply to el-larso [2012-05-16 22:04:42 +0000 UTC]

I' think you was right about the green planet (which I took out now^^); on the blue one it doesn't going exactly from top to bottom but slightly shifted to the left - which matches the lighting as far as I can see...

Thanks for your detailed and helpful comment!

Even though I am a bit drunk, IΒ΄ll be trying to be as sober as I can be.
It is a really good picture. It could be hanging on the wall (at least on my wall). Anyhoo, it is just an opinion. But, I feel that it is a "wall hanging" opinion

Thank YOU for a good picture!
