Description After the first 13 episodes broke records and won all the awards, a second season was a no brainer. Now with more 80's new wave and asymmetrical hair AND fashions! Still the best show ever? OF COURSE!

I've seen both soundtrack pieces you've done thus far and I think the concepts are really, really great. But you've been deliberately mum on your actual thought process on these pieces! From what I can gather you've dreamed up the very thing I've been dreaming of basically for as long as I can remember, a faithful era-specific Dazzler series.

While the soundtrack itself I'm iffy on (mostly because it's not as poppy as my tastes skew towards when it comes to the '70s and '80s), the thought you put behind the curating is admirable. What I especially love though is the work done on the art itself. The casting of Brie Larson is certainly very interesting (I'm unfamiliar with her work beyond Room though) and I like how you've portrayed her in both this piece and the one before. The costuming here is especially cool. I've always had a hard time imagining how her fabulous blue bodysuit would translate to real life and... what do you know it actually works when given structure.

I'd hate if someone did this to me but I've gotta ask... Is there a reason Prince, Madonna and Michael Jackson were excluded from your selections? They were contemporaneous with Cyndi Lauper and Tina Turner's work included here.

I don't hate the question. I just don't understand the question. Why would being contemporaries in the field qualify them for a soundtrack appearance? This isn't a compilation for 'The Biggest Stars of the 80's!'

When I began putting these together, the playlist was immediately 300 deep. From monster hits to punk b-sides, anything that might've fit the world I was creating for her was grabbed... and then the cutting began. This was about what songs worked best for all the crazy-- erm, ideas I was having. Some are meant to amplify the mood of the scene, others to flip the mood on its head. Some are songs Ali sings along to - or performs - and some are songs she fights to. The rest are for specific title sequences. Every chosen song has a purpose.

I know explaining my thought process would've eliminated some questions, but I also know most do not care. Frankly, the older I get the less I care about it as well. If I have a story to tell, I often will, and am more than happy to answer questions whenever someone cares enough to have the time and/or interest to ask. I think after spending so many years explaining why I did what in the hopes that people will "get it", I just kinda want the work to stand on its own and let people take from it what they will. Usually.

Sooo, to answer your question, the reason for their exclusion was because they didn't make the cut. lol

As for Brie, there is just something about her. She was not my first choice as far as how I've always pictured Dazz physically but she ticks the most qualifying boxes for me... and IMHO is heaps more talented than most Dazz front runners. I highly recommend United States of Tara and Scott Pilgrim Saves the World. Those seem to be the roles that best helped sway my friends over to Team Brie.

That's not really why I mentioned those specific ones. It had more to do with how those three performed music she would have performed, how some of their mythologies, media/public reception and narratives matched Dazzler's, and the fact that Dazzler was visually modelled after Madonna for much of the late-'80s. It's kind of like a rainbow coloured elephant in the room. But that's just me.

Sorry the question was confusing and annoying for you. The snappy reply wasn't entirely necessary. But thanks for the explanation.

LOL Then perhaps structure YOUR questions more thoroughly and the answer will be better suited. Or, here's a thought, just don't ask any questions if you're so easily prone to taking offense.

This where I'd post a gif of Willam (especially since I met him last weekend)... But they're all too inappropriate.
