I finnnaally got around to finishing this! Thanks sooo so so much to everyone who commented on my WIP with tips, they helped a lot!! I'm so much happier with this and I appreciate the time y'all took to write the comments.
A special shout-out to Ookamiden and hollow08 , you guys gave especially helpful advice. The ideas hollow08 gave me about a mid-tone grey background and adding darker tones with fine black markers, and brighter tones with white, really pulled this piece together and have actually become a part of most of my (realistic) drawings! I love how it makes them look. So thanks for helping me, not only to fix this drawing, but also to help me improve my drawing technique overall! And btw everyone, hollow08 has his own version of this portrait, and it's beautiful, so please check it out!
