Description

Another character for my role play group...which is currently open for applications!

Shea's start in life...was a bit shitty, by most peoples standards. Her father, in a moment of weakness and desperation, slept with a stripper in a club one night and got the woman pregnant. When she found out and confronted the man, he bottled it and disappeared, leaving her up the duff and a child on the way with no father.

Fast forward to just after a baby girl was born and her mother had gone...a little downhill. She had lost her job and turned to drugs to cope with the stress of having a child and developed a gambling problem to pay for it all to boot.

One night, in the port city of Liverpool, Shea's mother was utterly broke and foolishly gambled with a group of Irish travellers. Eventually, the jig was up; They realised she had nothing and were about to leave the woman alone when they were shocked by the strippers next proposal; She would bet her baby girl in a poker game.

Needless to say...she lost.

She handed the child over and stumbled into the night without even a backwards glance, but luckily for the baby the travellers were compassionate and took the girl in...the middle aged woman who took on the responsibility naming her 'Shea'.

She was brought up on the road with the travellers as one of them and had a pretty normal life..as far as normal went, anyway. When she was sixteen, one of her 'brothers' was due to fight in a bare knuckle boxing match...but a freak accident left him with a broken hand and unable to compete.
Shea then had a 'brilliant' idea; She would enter in his place. After several days of forcing her voice to deepen, a tight chest bind and a shaved head, Shea took her brothers place...and went on to win the match.

After this, Shea started competing regularly and developed quite a taste for boxing. She didn't always win, but she enjoyed it none the less.

She was also finally told about her unfortunate start in life. Shea was understandably angry; At her Mother for being so pathetic and her father for being a coward and she had absolutely no interest in finding either of them, figuring her mother at least was probably dead.
However, the travellers got wind that Shea's father had apparently spent the best part of ten years trying to find his daughter, after leaning what had happened that night in Liverpool.
Shea still didn't care and her adoptive family respected her wishes, not giving any clue as to her whereabouts.

When Shea turned 28, she was approached to enter a boxing match that saw quite a few good fighters competing. She was one of the favourites to win and everything looked as it usually did. Until she was approached and asked to throw her match. Shea refused but when her adoptive family's safety was brought into the picture...she reluctantly backed down. She accepted a tidy pay out and threw her match as planned. No one knew, but Shea still feared for her family's safety and what would happen if anyone found out what she had done...and decided to move away to try and protect them, using her searching father as an excuse to leave.

So Shea found herself moving to London and got a job as a bouncer, shacking up in a hostel until she could find a nice place to live. Hopefully her application will be approved.

She works on the door of The Station nightclub in Camden on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays...and Solus in Chelsea (on the Battersea map) Saturdays and Sundays.

Personality
Shea is friendly enough, but gets...prickly...if her personal life if pried into, preferring to simply keep it to herself. She is street smart, but not very smart smart. Trying to talk to her about things such as politics or world affairs and you will get a blank look. You will probably also be told to shut up if you drone on too long.
Shea isn't one to mince her words, either, used to simply saying what is on her mind in the bluntest way possible. Sometimes she can talk quite fast and talks with a mild, southern Irish accent.

Points of interest

Shea is slightly illiterate, sometimes having trouble with spelling and grammar, as she never went to school and was educated at home. She can read fine, however.
Shea also isn't as up to date with modern technology as some...and has just recently brought her first laptop. To say the thing is a little baffling is an understatement.
Shea is rather fascinated with symbolism and intends to find a good library to hit up as soon as she's settled.
Shea is quite heavily tattoo'd, sporting a claddagh motif across her collar bone - The cycle of the moon across her shoulders and back - triangle symbols on the backs of her hands and a leg sleeve on her left hand side.
Shea has several facial piercings..but unusually no piercings in her ears.
Shea loves dogs. Sadly, she can't have one. Yet.
Shea is a rather thrifty individual, probably a habit learned from her travelling days, and hates to waste anything...She is also an opportunistic thief, sadly, though tries to control herself as much as possible.
She does have a weakness for shiny things, though...
Shea knows a little Shelta , but understands it's use is limited to speaking among travellers.
Shea likes her men to be men...but her women to be pretty and delicate.
As she so 'eloquently' put it, Shea enjoys smoking the odd cigarette from time to time and isn't above smoking weed every once in a while either.
Her favourite alcoholic drink is Guinness...but prefers whiskey if she's out to get drunk as it's 'more efficient'
Shea wears a gold crucifix, but doesn't consider herself strictly religious. It's just something she wears.
