History:
Charm was born during a spike in the population, which the government deemed as MetaMorphs, expressed the ability to use elemental, energy, and other types of abilities. She was born with these abilities and thus is a Natural Electric MetaMorph. She was born in Soleanna New City to her parents, Haven Victoria Roybal and Rolan Louis Roybal as an only child. Haven and Rolan adored Charm and they lived happily together in Soleanna with Haven working as a teacher, and Rolan working as a part-time chef.
When Charm was five years old, she began to show signs of being an Electric MetaMorph. Haven and Rolan noticed that she had little to no control over her abilities and were concerned for her safety. One day, they saw on the news that a MetaMorph Institute was being opened near Kingdom Valley in order to help the Natural MetaMorphs better control their powers. Haven and Rolan asked Charm if she wanted to go for a little while and she agreed.
At the Institute, run by Professor Zundapp, all MetaMorphs were given tough love from the orderlies at the Institute, bordering on cruel. They often gave serums to the MetaMorphs to see if they would have a positive or negative effect, thus creating Charm's phobia of syringes and needles, for the serum could have very nasty effects. Zundapp wanted to test whether or not a MetaMorph could have two abilities, and he used Charm as one of his many test subjects. He laced her nervous system with technology that would allow her to manipulate ice through her hands and feet. This ability is very limited however, as she can’t use it when it’s over 95 degrees and she cannot use it in excess. The Institute did train those they deemed worthy to control and use their powers in battle or in other areas. One day, Charm called her parents and said that she wanted to go home. They were missing her terribly and quickly agreed, bringing her home that very day.
A few years passed before tragedy struck. The three of them were in Apotos, paying a visit to some family friends. The sun was just starting to set and the three were in a convenience store because Charm begged for a candy bar because "the food over at their friend's house looked funny." Haven and Rolan agreed and while they were in like to buy the candy bar, a man in line ahead of them pulled out a gun and demanded the cashier and Rolan for all their money, ID, and credit cards. Rolan complied, not wanting his family to be injured because of resistance. Charm, having watched so many Batman cartoons where the Dark Knight easily dispatched the villain and not truly understanding the danger they were in, stepped forward and told the man to give her daddy back his money. The man laughed and responded by grabbing the back of her coat and pointing the gun to her head. Rolan demanded that he let Charm go, reasoning that she was only nine. The man continued to mock Charm and he held the back of her neck too tightly and Charm yelled in pain. Haven moved forward, reaching for her daughter when the man pointed the gun at her and shot her in the stomach. She collapsed and, appalled by what he had done, the man let go of Charm. Rolan held Haven and Charm clutched her hand as she died. The man fled, but was later arrested by police when the cashier called 911 while the man was mocking Charm. They identified him to be Basil Grayson and he sent to prison. The cashier offered Charm her candy bar, a Snickers bar, for free.
Charm has never touched another Snickers bar.
After the funeral, things continued to go downhill. Charm was doing terrible at school and often didn't get out of bed at all. Rolan worked full time in order to maintain an income to support himself and Charm. When he returned home around seven or eight at night, Charm would always try to have dinner ready for him and have the house cleaned. He tried the best he could to be a good dad, but he felt lost without Haven there to help him. Charm lost touch with all her friends and felt no need to continue any relationship with anyone but her dad, who quickly became her whole world. Everyone at school acted like Charm didn't exist, and she didn't mind. She didn't trust or like any of them before.
When Charm was 14, her father sent her to live with her aunt, Hope Marie Hopkins, Haven's older sister for a year so he could get a grip on himself and better provide for Charm. Hope had no idea how to raise Charm for a year and basically left her to her own devices. She had a short temper and would yell and snap at Charm if she ever did anything wrong, only to apologize for it later. Charm became incredibly conflicted, not sure if she hated her for her harsh words or forgave her for her apologies. She put a block and become incredibly reserved and quiet when Hope would yell, her anger and hatred for her aunt building each day.
After the year was over, Charm returned home to find that Basil Grayson, her mother's murderer, had been cooperating with the police when it came to information about other criminals. He applied for early parole and there was a hearing scheduled for the next week. Rolan was asked to attend and Charm insisted that she come to. He reluctantly agreed. Before they left for the hearing, Charm snuck into her father's office and found a gun in his bottom drawer. She assumed it to be loaded and hid it in her coat, planning to kill her mother's murderer if he was set free.
At the hearing, Grayson displayed a convincing case, stating that he never meant to kill Haven and that he regretted it deeply. Charm was far too beyond in her desire for revenge for words to convince her not to avenge her mother. After the hearing, Charm made sure that she was in front of Grayson as he walked out of the courthouse and she pulled out the gun. No one noticed as she pointed the gun at him and pulled the trigger. Nothing happened. The gun had no bullets.
Rolan saw her with the gun and quickly took her out of the courthouse. On the drive home he demanded what she was thinking, saying that Haven would be ashamed of her. Charm only closed her eyes and allowed her pain infused rage to overshadow her guilt.
Another year passed and Charm told her father that she wanted to join G.U.N. with her close friend, Hestia Pyro. Rolan agreed and offered to help her pay for her apartment in Station Square where their HQ was located. Charm moved to Station Square and became an agent with Hestia. After a few months of working there, Hestia came to Charm, asking for her help in locating her missing mother. Knowing what it's like to lose your mother all too well, she agreed. Hestia took her to her cousin, Diesel Sherlock Ray, hoping he could provide insight on where to find her as she claimed he was incredibly intelligent. Upon meeting him, Charm did not care for Diesel, finding him self-obsessed, arrogant, and rude. Diesel told her that he fell in love with her upon seeing her and she brushed this off. After having found Hestia's mother, Charm and Hestia returned to Station Square. Diesel soon followed and joined G.U.N. along with them. After spending more time with him, Charm began to like and trust Diesel, soon falling in love with him as well and they started dating.
Diesel left G.U.N. and became a homicide detective for the SSPD, as two agents could not be romantically involved. Diesel soon moved into Charm's apartment and their relationship grew stronger. Diesel encouraged Charm to pursue her dream of being a successful author and she began writing novels during her free time. Charm remains in touch with Rolan and her anger has somewhat subsided, overshadowed by her love for Diesel and his love for her.
