I just saw the live action Beauty and the Beast movie a couple days ago, and I have to say, it was better than I expected. Β I heard that some people did not like it for one reason or another, but I thought it was a pretty decent remake of a classic Disney film. Β I could definitely connect with Belle and the Beast better than I could in the original, because I knew more of their backstories.
That being said, I do not agree with Disney's decision to make live action remakes of their old animated movies. Β Heck, they're making a "live action" The Lion King remake! Β A movie like that shouldn't be live action. Β It's just another lamebrain attempt by Disney to make more money by milking every last cent out of their existing franchises.
Let the classics stay classic, and don't reboot/remake them. Β Make something new, for Walt's sake! Β I am sick of all the reboots and remakes plaguing Hollywood lately. Β It leads to creative rot. Β And this is coming from a writer who writes across multiple genres and formats.
