I've seen so much Adventure Time, it's sickening.
I feel that he is more like a dad since it's obvious that Marceline's dad was missing in the beginning, as shown in "I Remember You" when Simon finds her alone and upset.
He promises to take care of her.
So, I am assuming Marceline didn't find her dad till much later.
There is also another episode where you see Marceline alone again, with Hambo, no Simon and her father isn't around either.
So to me, Simon/Ice King was a much better father to MarMar than her true dad ever was.

But still, I don't think Ice King would be able to make a satisfying princess for himself from snow and ice. Even if he based her off Bubblegum (feel like that would just make him desire PB more). Plus, knowing Ice King, he may either see her as a daughter and not want her as a wife, or somehow make her unable to deal with him (leading to another princess for Finn and Jake to rescue).

Well basically, Ice King screwing around with his Ice magic to create his own princess like we were saying. But never being happy with the result. Maybe throw in him making one in Betty's image, yet not only feeling a tad familiarity from her.

Well I'd say combine elements of Bubblegum, Ice Queen, and Betty's appearances into one character.
-Bubblegum because she is his favorite princess.
-Ice Queen to symbolize Ice King's narcissism
-Betty to symbolize that faint remnant of Simon that's in his mind somewhere.
As an idea, Ice Queen's style eyebrows, Betty style hair on her forehead, Bubblegum style hair length going down her back, a dress in the style of Bubblegum's with a hint of Ice Queen's (like IQs whole exposed neck and collar bone thing). And some glasses she has, but doesn't always wear. Like she keeps them in a pocket on her top.

Well, if you didn't notice his biggest Princess obsession is with Bubblegum.
Also, if you didn't notice Bubblegum and Betty have similar traits.
When you see Betty she is wearing a lab coat, probably meaning she is a scientist, like Bubblegum. They also wear similar glasses, from time to time.
Betty's hair is also some strange tint of pink.
However, I do not ship Ice King and PB.
I think a part of him still remembers Betty his "Princess" so that's why he has an obsession with PB.

though do you remember the episode where the ice has to give cries of pain to say the candy kingdom? well the shelf of *word i can't remember* gave the crown a voice, and it was much different then the ice king's. even so i'm just happy to wait and see how they play out this show.
