Valerie stared in disgust at the swimming ectoplasm in the bowl. It looked about as appetizing as dirt, a foreshadowing of the only life that it could lend Phantom. She was beginning to realize the true weight of the responsibility with which Vlad had charged her. This was not only a battle to keep Phantom in existence. This was also a battle to wake him up from the weird worthlessness with which he saw himself.
"Look, I won't…laugh or anything." She looked at him uncertainly for the first time. "But you're fading out. If you want to stay in existence, you need to eat this."
He lifted miserable eyes to her. Why? he seemed to ask. His face pulled back in pain, lips curling into a strange grimace, as if he would laugh or cry.
Valerie struggled to understand exactly what he was asking from her. "Because I can't just let you fade out if you know stuff about Pariah Dark." Dan flinched even at the name. "We need your help to defeat him now."
Fear and hopelessness overtook him, stooping his once-powerful shoulders. He shook his head, a strangled noise coming from his throat.
"We need you," Valerie repeated, eyes hard. But she wasn't angry with him. She held her gaze with his determinedly. "Do you understand? We need you. Everything you've got."

You doing these pictures just made me re-read all of Karma again. >.< I wish I could do awesome fanart for it, but my art skills aren't good enough!
Part of me wants to do a base-edit and have Grim!Danny comforting Karma!Phantom just because it would be adorable. Even if it'd never be canon even if Grim!Danny CAN go to alternate timelines. XD
Now I just need my muse to wake up so I can finish my own stories! XD "Truce" and "Incomplete" need finishing!

Lol, drawing these pictures makes me wanna write more. I've been neglecting Karma to finish up the short story I'm currently working on in the collection.
And I've seen your art! You can certainly draw.

Grim!Danny is adorable, but awkward. XD He's stuck as a 14-year-old but his mind is still aging and he's still head-over-heels for Valerie but also wants to make Phantom happy and ohgoooooshwhatwillhedoooo?!
I'm kind of not looking forward to the end of Incomplete, since it'll be the end of the week...

Oh, I think Dan is plenty creepy, haha. Although in Karma, he's not so much a creep as he is a kicked puppy.
I didn't look at all of your pictures, but what I saw of your base-edits was good! Maybe I should look into the base-edit idea myself. Sounds like it makes life a lot easier.
It appears Grim!Danny has a lot of unfortunate troubles, haha. And with "Incomplete," I think it's always hard to end sadder stories, because you want to avoid that emotional fallout for as long as you can. But sometimes facing it is what makes a story all the more bittersweet and memorable.
Haha, I promise I will write more to Karma. I'm hoping that I can finish up the Valentine thread in 2 more updates so that way it's just done (I'm worried about storyline confusion if I had more than Aftermath and Karma as continuing installments). But after that, I hope to come back to Aftermath and Karma. And I'm hoping Dan can regenerate his tongue too. XD

He's a cute kicked puppy, though! *pets him* I've always compared Dan Phantom to a kitty, though. Specifically, a sexy black panther.
Eh, trying to find a base that suits your needs is actually not easy at all, and there's a bit of a stigma. A lot of people look down on people that edit bases, but I admit that I have no talent when it comes to drawing and I do best with the written word. (Though I have been trying to do better...I should pull out my tablet again.)
Oh, yeah. Not sure if you've been reading "Incomplete" or not, but Clockwork did a horrible prank on Danny in the past to try to teach him to be more punctual. XD When Dan hears about it, he insists on kissing him just as many times (once a day for two months) in one week. 
And if you saw my base-edits, you might've seen the picture I did with Clockwork spanking Danny's disobedient butt. There is no shipping of those two, though. XD He's more like Danny's irritated older brother.
Never mind Clockwork's borderline bullying, the nightmares just SUCK! >.<;; And people are never happy to die, and often try to force him to bring them back to life, to the point of stealing his scythe and attacking him with it!
Eee, I wanna see more of Karma! It'll be great when he can actually speak to her, especially since he's not an evil SOB anymore.

Regarding base-edits: there's a stigma against fanfiction and drawing fantasy art too, so at the end of the day, it's all relative. XD I'm trying to learn more about the natural lines of the human body and how to draw hands and feet, and so I've been staring at a lot of statues lately, haha. I'm not sure if it's helping, but I figure practice makes perfect!
I believe I did read "Incomplete" up to its latest chapter, unless you've updated in the past month. I, of course, am biased towards the Dan/Val pairing, but I suppose the narcissism of Dan does lend itself to some strange situations at times.
Clockwork is a pretty versatile character. The concept of him as an irritated older brother kinda makes sense, considering he constantly has to steer Danny away from bad ideas in the canon series, and he usually does it in an uppity sort of way to rub Danny's mistakes in his face. I have a feeling that your Grim!Danny just won't get a break.
About Karma: the real question is if Dan really could regenerate his cut-out tongue, what in the world would he even say to Valerie???

That's why I started doing bases, I admit, but now it's just easier for me to do it this way than it is to hook up my tablet and attempt to figure that thing out. :/
XD I haven't updated since what you've seen, no. I've been very busy with my RL stuff, crocheting a blanket for my baby, looking up stuff for my baby, getting the house ready for my baby... XD; It's all about the baby right now for me, but I think I might be able to work a bit more on my fics soon.
No, no he really doesn't. XD And because he's a celebrity, the other Grim Reapers won't leave him alone, either! XDDD
Clockwork doesn't like tardiness, and unfortunately Danny is made of tardy. XD
I think he would start with begging for forgiveness and maybe explaining that while he doesn't feel remorse for their deaths, he doesn't take delight in them, either. Maybe with a lot of kneeling at her feet and sobbing. Then after they get that awkwardness out of the way, they'll discuss what he's been trying to convey on paper - information about Pariah Dark. For one thing, he knows Fright Knight's weakness, so once they get him out of the way then they can figure out Pariah Dark. Without the crown and ring, he's powerless. If they could somehow get rid of those, or take them for themselves...
I gotta admit, though, in the Valentine one you're doing now, Phantom doesn't seem to have ANY remorse for using Danny's face to get what he wants. XD The sneak. And I liked that you had some people recognize that he looked like Danny would if he grew up, causing them to lie about him being a cousin of Danny's. And seeing that teenage awkwardness in some of his actions when surrounded by girls is just so cute. XD Danny never was good with talking to girls.

I have only an old tablet. Honestly, I think it's easier to draw out on pencil first, then scan it in and use the tablet to manipulate the picture in photoshop. My hand is much steadier with a pencil or pen than it is with the tablet.
I think it's great that you're spending time getting ready for your baby! Take all the time you want. I'm sure that your baby can already feel the love you have for him! Your stories are something you can always come back to later after you've settled back down into a pattern. (Gah, talking about children makes me want to write more for the Aftermath series, haha...)
Thanks for the thoughts on Karma! I will keep that in mind as I continue to work on what will happen with it. I'm not sure if Pariah Dark is powerless without his ring and crown, haha, but it would appear that his strength is his weakness too.
And lol, Dan doesn't have remorse ever. I think that if he really could take on an adult human form, he wouldn't be afraid to use it if it gave him an advantage. I think it's arguable that a lot of what he does is just pure manipulation. But I do think, based off of the canon series, he doesn't always think things out all the way and occasionally misses the obvious. Hence all the delightful mishaps, haha. Although Dan Phantom is supposed to be a fusion between Danny Phantom and Vlad Plasmius, I'd like to think that Danny is the primary personality that informs his impulses, especially when he's surprised. XD

Danny had to remove his ring and crown to beat him before. Without those two, he only has his brute force - which can be overpowered by numbers. He doesn't seem to have any powers without them.
Phantom made lots of mistakes even before, remember Super Phantom's shenanigans? Same guy, he's just a little more twisted and all his morals are buried away.
He just can't escape Danny!
