it is theorized that he uses his mechanical boots to help him connect his mind to his arwing and fly it in part with his mind. although to answer questions he did infact lose his legs but only after a few games. he orriginally had his legs intact. also another theory is that he had his legs amputated to be a better pilot like some people did in WWII... i think...
