Pretty much, this Lightning is braver, more reckless, and a little less trusting, than the original Lightning.
Here, let me give you a few scenarios so you can really tell their differences:
1. While in town, a baker gives Lightning a sweetroll. Delighted, he takes it into an alley to enjoy, only to be intercepted by a gang of kids his age. The leader demands the sweetroll, or else he and his friends will beat him and take it. (yes this is a Bethesda reference)
Comic version of Lightning would probably just parkour up a building and eat his sweetroll in peace, forgetting the kids' existence.
Original Lightning would scream/cry/apologize profusely for some reason even though he's the one getting harassed, and then he would give up his sweetroll to the kids.
2. If the Lightning's encountered a spider...
Comic Lightning would make it his pet.
Original Lightning would scream/cry/call for Scarfire or Razor to save him
3. If Lightning's friend were being mauled by a dragon or something...
Comic Lightning would risk his life slaying that dragon to save his friend.
Original Lightning would scream/cry/leave his friend for dead and wish him/her luck before going off to plan their funeral.
(Keep in mind here, that comic Lightning can't actually die, while original Lightning is scared of death and can die)
4. If a girl professed her love for Lightning...
Comic Light would be very confused and surprised
Original Light would scream/cry/apologize/RUN
That should probably be enough scenarios for you to tell their differences.
Things the two Lightnings have in common:
- They're not on good terms with their brother
- They're orphans
- They both play guitar
- Both enjoy horror movies
- They're both drama queens
- They both have color changing pupils
- Both wanna be a hero
