this has a good feel to it. it's a fairly strong piece, indeed.

when you use the clone stamp tool (i assume that's what it was, the spot in the ground) don't just go in lines. it's worth the extra time to dab from here and there to give a more seamless look. also, the smaller the area that you're cloning at a time, the better. instead of say... 40px, try 10px.
the lens flare is pretty sharp for the image, maybe a radial gradient (from white to transparent) would have worked better.
the sky color looks like it could have taken more time, i'm guessing you used something like the magic wand tool to make a selection that was filled? really, please don't be insulted if this isn't how you did things, this is just guessing on appearance... if you know how to work with layers, next time try putting another layer above the initial image that you want to have color in certain areas but not others, setting the blending mode to 'hue' (or a different one, experiment to find the best fit) and painting the color in, it'll keep your edges looking smoother. or you can use something like a polygonal lasso (at 1px feather) or quickmask (basically with that tool you make a selection with the brush tool, works really well for complex areas such like the sky in this image).
^this is photoshop-based stuff, if you have it/need help with it at all, just ask. i'm not as swift with other programs anymore, though.

I just noticed your extensive comments again, and appreciate them more than ever. I've been working on this piece off and on for several years. see also what's on dofaust here, and on artwanted.com/orlovititz -- for much more work....not all quality -- but just more....
...again...ps comments much appreciated......
best to reply to dofaust on DA BTW ... I am rarely at this relatively old id....

Very informative - and good suggestions
esp re the sky and the use of the clone stamp,
as I'm sure that was what I used...many thanks...
PS was used, and also paint shop pro...
I tend to have
very average, or lower, skills in both, and
stick to very simple processes...hve been using
PS layers for at least 2 years and still haven't
really mastered much of that...
Yes, I would like to impose with some queries re PS
technique, esp. the warping/wrapping something
in some other image... existing explanations I've glanced
at are just inadequate...
thanks again... hope for more communiques - and more
criticism - don't be shy - you are right on in several ways.....
regards

Several pieces were from photos we took on an old estate in France in the early 70s...
There is a lot of manipulation... left out the satyr from this version...still is pretty suggestive
I thought - many thanks...

yewp, lacking the calm in reality, we create it from
memories and earlier life, or dreams...
glad you like this piece...
