Here is Cap and the legacy he left behind on Earth 979...

After disappearing in 1945, several men have picked up where he left off and still continue even when he woke up.

Jeffery Mace was Cap during the 1960's and became the resident Patriot for a time.

Eli Bradley is the grandson of the African American Captain America of the 1940's; Isiah Bradley. He became the new Patriot.

John Walker and Lemar Hoskins came into it and donned the names US Agent and Battlestar, training under Fury at Camp Lehigh. After what happened in Manhattan, US Agent currently oversees protecting the descendants of the Erskine family and keeping a close eye on those who may attempt to attack the Avengers Academy.

Bucky was Captain America... for a short stint that was closure but a failure at the same time. A lot of people still held him accountable for his crimes as the Winter Soldier and felt he never deserved that Shield. Tony advocated for him for awhile. Now he just works as the White Wolf and as a stealthy Cap if people need him.

Sam Wilson. the true inheritor to the mantle of Captain America. After Steve died during Civil War, Sam was reluctant to pick up the mantle. He made the mistake of letting Walker have the shield or so he believed. Captain America was brought back by the Red Skull and had his body possessed for a brief time. Both Bucky and Sam wore their Captain America uniforms to battle Skull Cap and revive Steve. Since then, Sam became Captain America full time and Steve was down to retire... for a moment until he became back to action, not as Captain America but as... Civil Warrior.
